Northern Indoor Championships
15-16 January 2011
The weekend was a fantastic few days for the Lincoln Wellington athletes who competed at the Northern Indoor Championships at the Sheffield
EIS – not only bringing home a clutch of medals but also a run of Personal Bests and a Championship Best Performance.
One of the most successful athletes of the day was Matt Houlden, who not only beat his indoor PB in the 400m by nearly two seconds to run an outstanding 51.7s, but went on to jump a further PB and Championship Best Performance in the Triple Jump of 14.37m, winning a well deserved gold. Lydia Chamberlain competed in the 60m Hurdles and Long Jump, where she won bronze in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.58m and just missed out on a medal in her Hurdles, coming a respectable fourth. Hannah Dunderdale competed in the U17 60m Hurdles, coming second in her heat and winning silver in the final with a PB of 9.24s.
To continue the line up, also competing were Mike White who came back from injury in the 60m with a fantastic time of 7.55s and Shireen Timmis who came third in her heat, just missing out on the final in the U20 age group.
