The recent rise in the status of Lincoln Wellington Athletic Club has been confirmed with a remarkable 14 athletes from the club appearing in the top 50 of the recently published national rankings for the 2010 athletics year.

In the Senior Men's rankings, Matt Bowser occupies a lofty 3rd spot over 5k on the road with a time of 14m 08s and he was also 35th over 10k with 29m 58s and 33rd in the track 3000m listings with 8m 10.85s.  Tom Doe placed 15th in the 3000m Steeplechase with 9m 01.81s and was just behind Bowser in the 10k rankings with 30m 06s.  Multi-eventer Lydia Chamberlin appears in three of the Senior Women's ranking lists.  She took 12th place in the Heptathlon with 5021 points and was also 16th in the High Jump with 1.75m and 21st in the Long Jump with 5.94m.  U20 athlete Lara Thomas recorded 11m 24.09s for the 3000m Steeplechase, which earned her 22nd place in the Senior rankings.  However, in her own age group, she finished in a very creditable 3rd position with that time.  The Wellington U20 Men were strongly represented in several events with Joe Dunderdale's throw of 65.14m in the Javelin for 5th place being the leading performance.  Sam Atkin was 12th in the 3000m with 8m 21.95s and also 19th in the 5000m with 14m 53.76s.  And there was dual Wellington representation in the 2000m Steeplechase with Shane Robinson's 6m 10.69s giving him 13th spot just ahead of Stuart Campbell's 6m 14.63s for 19th place.  Matt Houlden produced a string of excellent Triple Jump results throughout the season and his best of 14.50m placed him 16th.  In the U17 Women's age group, Sarah Stanhope was 5th in the Hammer with 46.43m which also placed her 17th in the U20 category.  And another star performance in the U17s came from Hannah Dunderdale with a fine 3rd spot in the Heptathlon with 4466 points.  Two of the club's strong U15 Girls endurance squad are in that age group's rankings.  Emma Tonner appears in 11th place in the 1500m list with 4m 41.73s and Abbie Donnelly made 20th place in the 3000m with 10m 51.5s.  And, in the same age group, Kelsey Dawes placed 17th in the Javelin rankings with 31.30m.
