|
Four of Lincoln Wellington's powerful Veteran contingent competed at the British
Masters Championships in Cardiff and all returned with medals.
In the W70 age group, the remarkable Dot Fraser made a further significant addition to her medal haul accumulated over many seasons by taking gold in the 100m (17.64s), 200m (37.48s) and 400m (89.81s). She also collected a bronze medal for 3rd place in the Hammer with 17.95m. In the same age group, Betty Stracey was also in gold winning form in the 800m with a time of 3m 51.13s. In a tough two days of competition she also won silvers in the 1500m in 7m 32.59s and in the 5000m in 26m 29.48s. Jon Hughes did well to take his first championship medal with silver in the 1500m in the M55 category in 4m 50.14s. He returned the following day and just missed a further medal in the 800m with 4th place in 2m 21.0s. Wellington's 4th contender was Susie Ardron, who also won her first medals with bronze in both the 1500m (5m 29.62s) and 800m (2m 43.50s). |
