Road Runners Update 30 June 2010 |

June has come and gone and there have been no reports added to the news this month from the road
runners. However this does not mean we have been resting - far from
it! Many of the road runners raced in Woodhall Spa, where many surpassed themselves
and recorded personal best times - results are on the running league table.
This was not enough for some, they also took part in a new event 'Trails of the
Riverbank' held by Lincoln and District. This was a two-distance run and one to put on your calendars for next year.
The distances were 10 miles and 17 miles along the riverside footpath
between Lincoln and Bardney. Lincoln Wellington took most of the prizes
- first men's team for the 17 mile run, first second and third runners
Neil Coney, Peter Duncan and Glenn Moore (Glenn's first prize) - well done to you all.
The women also took prizes. Jane Charlesworth and Netty Wasyliew for the
10 mile race and Anne Gilroy for the 17 mile race. The end of June
loomed and the Humber Bridge Half Marathon saw more runners this year.
It was very hot and no records broken, only a good sweat due to the very hot conditions.
Well done to all who ran this race, especially Steve Bullivant, who cycled all the way there and ran a very good time.
Last but not least, the second 5k series race. Well done to all who ran this event.
A very good turn out again from the road runners and times are on the results section of the
web.
The Round Norfolk Relays are looming and I need as many runners as possible to do this event. Please let me know if you are still interested. I am organising an evening meeting at the Queen Victoria on Monday the 19th July at 7.30pm. Please come along even if you are not to sure if you want to race all welcome I need 17 runners and many helpers!!! Once again thank you to all who helped last night doing the 5k series, the second biggest field ever. |
