Northern League Div2EC Match 2 - Hull 5 June 2010 |
|
Another excellent showing from the Lincoln Wellington senior team gave them a fine 2nd place in their latest Northern League Division 2 match at Hull.
And, with the performances of the other teams in the division falling favourably for them, the Wellington squad now top the table at the halfway point in the season.
Two strong front running performances from Ian Kimpton gave him a brace of wins in the 1500m in 4m 06.1s and, just 45 minutes later, the 5000m in 15m 38.1s. Les Ball won the 1500m B race in 4m 25.9s and Jon Hughes was 3rd in the B 5000m in 18m 27.8s. Shane Robinson was also in excellent form and, after a nippy 61.2s to win the B 400m Hurdles, he was well clear at the line in the 3000m Steeplechase in 10m 05.0s. Mark Baddeley comfortably took the B Steeplechase in 10m 24.7s. A flying last 50 metres by Steve Gregory gave Wellington another track success in the A 400m in 49.5s and he followed up with a B Triple Jump win with 12.26m. In the 800m, Ronny Wilson was 4th in the A race in a personal best 1m 58.7s with Ian Maplethorpe a good 2nd in the B contest in 2m 03.0s. In the sprints, Chris Leslie was 6th in both the A 100m (11.8s) and B 200m (24.2s) with Neil Humberstone 2nd in the B 100m in 11.5s and 6th in the A 200m in 24.1s. Malc Bramhall ran strongly for 3rd in the B 400m in 56.3s and also finished 2nd in the High Jump with 1.60m. Marc Afford had barely warmed up before he was 4th in the 400m Hurdles in 63.3s but he picked up maximum points in the B High Jump with a clearance of 1.50m. Youngster Joe Dunderdale impressed in the Javelin with a good winning throw of 57.25m and he was also 6th in the Shot with a useful 10.82m. Matt Houlden was in good form with winning leaps of 13.77m in the Triple Jump and 6.38m in the Long Jump. He was also a close 2nd in the 110m Hurdles in 16.8s. Adey White made his usual contribution to the field points and was 5th in the Hammer (27.23m), 4th in the B Discus (24.49m), 3rd in the B Shot (8.71m) and 4th in the Pole Vault (3.00m). Jim Slater returned to competitive action with 3rd spot in the B Hammer (21.69m) and 6th place in the Discus with 34.26m. And a couple of good efforts from Geoff Powley brought him a win in the B Javelin with 37.77m and 2nd place in the B Pole Vault with 3.00m. The women's team notched maximum points in the 1500m and 3000m. Lara Thomas scooted clear on the last lap of the 1500m to win in 4m 40.5s with Georgia Ball easily taking the B race in 4m 46.8s. Sophie Cowper led throughout to take the 3000m in 10m 54.3s with Sheridan McWilliam pacing things well to win the B contest in 11m 18.3s. Libbie Read ran well for 3rd spot in the 800m in 2m 20.8s and was later 6th in the 400m in 63.6s. Megan Ball was 2nd in the B 800m in 2m 24.5s and 3rd in the B 400m in 63.8s. Shireen Timmis picked up 4th places in both the 100m (13.1s) and 200m (27.3s). Lucy Helas was also in 4th position in the B 100m in 13.4s. Mary-Ann Phillips scored some good points with 4th place in the 100m Hurdles in 19.0s and followed with 3rd in the High Jump (1.45m). A good throw of 40.90m gave Sarah Stanhope 2nd place in the Hammer and she also recorded 27.78m for 5th in the Discus. Paige Mitchell was 3rd in the B Hammer with 30.80m. Hayley Fox had a hectic afternoon and finished 3rd in the Pole Vault with 3.00m, 5th in the B Javelin (16.94m), 4th in the B Discus (15.74m) and 6th in the Triple Jump (7.53m). Hannah Dunderdale was 4th in the A Shot with 9.76m and 5th in the Javelin with 32.98m. And veteran Denise Timmis finished 5th in the Long Jump with 4.62m. |
