Cleethorpes Open
Grimsby
29 May 2010

A long-standing Lincoln Wellington record in the U20 Men's Javelin has been shattered by Joe Dunderdale at the Cleethorpes Open meeting at King George V Stadium in Grimsby.  His winning throw launched the spear out to 62.06m to erase the previous record which had stood for over 20 years.  He completed a good day by taking 2nd place in the Discus with 35.90m.  A fine family double was completed when Hannah Dunderdale won the U17 Women's Javelin with 33.67m and went on to win the 300m in 43.4s and take 2nd place in the Shot with 9.59m.

Sam Atkin moved down in distance to take an impressive win in the Junior/Senior/Veteran Men's 800m in a big personal best 2m 00.3s.  Les Ball was happy with 5th place in 2m 11.5s on his return to the track after a lay-off and Jon Hughes squeezed out a personal best with 2m 21.7s for 6th position.  George Shuttleworth was a little further back in 8th spot with 2m 51.4s.  Sydney Cherrie picked up a good win in the U15 Girl's Long Jump with a leap of 4.22m and was also joint 2nd in the High Jump with 1.30m.  Sam Shuttleworth finished runner–up in the U17 Men's 400m in 56.1s and later took the same position in the 800m in 2m 10.4s.  Megan Ball was also runner-up in the U17 Women's 800m in 2m 26.2s as was Susie Ardron in the Junior/Senior/Veteran Women's 800m with 2m 42.0s.  Shireen Timmis was 3rd in the Junior/Senior 100m in 13.5s and Ellie Clarke took 3rd spot in the 400m in 67.7s.  In the 3000m, Ryan Stevenson recorded 10m 14.4s for 7th place and, in the U13 Boy's 800m, Joe Shuttleworth was 5th in 2m 37.9s before going onto place 3rd in the Shot with 6.01m.  A good leap of 4.40m gave veteran Denise Timmis 5th place in the Long Jump and Luke Cherrie was also in 5th position in the U11 Boy's Long Jump with 3.12m.
