Lincolnshire T&F Championships Grantham 8-9 May 2010 |

A highly successful County Track and Field Championships for the athletes of Lincoln Wellington was concluded with an impressive tally of 49 individual titles.
The club successes came across all the age groups with the U15 Girls performing very strongly.
Emma Tonner impressed in the 1500m with a winning time of 5m 04.5s and Rhiannon Philps was also well clear at the finish of the 800m in
2m 26.4s. Bo Haywood picked up the 3000m title with a good winning time of
10m 59.6s. Excellent field performances came from Kelsey Dawes and Katie McMunn. The former won the
Discus with 24.45m and the Javelin with 31.30m. And the latter took gold in the
High Jump with 1.42m and the Shot with 8.31m. There were more good field results from the
U17 Women with Sarah Stanhope claiming the Discus (28.33m) and Hammer (42.34m) and Hannah Dunderdale taking the
Javelin and Shot titles with 34.13m and 10.07m respectively. On the track, the 3000m went to Libbie Read with
11m 07.6s. In the U20 age group, there were track doubles for Shireen Timmis and Lara Thomas.
The former took the 100m in 12.8s and the 200m in 26.7s. The latter won the 800m in
2m 19.7s and the 1500m in 4m 50.3s. A further track success in the age group went to Holly Haywood with
11m 44.7s in the 3000m. Sophie Cowper had a winning middle distance double in the
Senior age group with 2m 36.2s in the 800m and 5m 27.8s in the 1500m and Lucinda Pitcher was well clear at the finish of the 3000m in
10m 29.4s. Veteran Denise Timmis produced a trio of successes with 14.5s in the 100m, 30.2s in the 200m and 4.43m in the
Long Jump. And there was a win in the 800m for Susie Ardron with
2m 38.8s. Lauren Ward notched the sole Wellington win in the U13
Girls category with 14.1s in the 100m. The U13 Boys fared much better with Fraser McDowall winning the 100m in 13.3s and Daniel Skinner taking the 200m title in 28.9s. Joe Shuttleworth scored in the High Jump with 1.25m and Toby Usher won the Long Jump with a leap of 4.31m. Two strong runs from Dylan Love gave him an U15 Boy's middle distance double with 2m 12.6s in the 800m and 4m 36.1s in the 1500m. Bradley Wilson won the 80m Hurdles in the same age group in 13.8s. The U17 Men's 800m title went to Richard Brine in 2m 08.6s and Sam Shuttleworth completed the middle distance double for Wellington with 4m 28.0s in the 1500m. A fine throw of 52.06m gave Dominic Sykes an easy win in the Hammer. There were some excellent Wellington performances from the U20 Men. Tom Straw won the 1500m in 4m 13.3s and followed with 1m 58.0s to win the 800m. Stuart Campbell came back well clear in the 2000m Steeplechase in 6m 37.9s and Joe Dunderdale impressed with a winning throw of 53.41m in the Javelin. Matt Houlden recorded good wins in the Long Jump (6.50m) and Triple Jump (13.82m). Four good track successes went to the Senior Men. Martin Bradbury looked good with 50.1s in the 400m and Steve Gregory was well clear with 1m 54.3s in the 800m. Ian Kimpton made all the running to take the 1500m in 4m 12.5s and Aaron Scott lapped the whole field when scoring in the 5000m in 15m 01.0s. For the Veteran Men, there were wins for Malc Bramhall in the 400m (57.5s), Jon Hughes in the 800m (2m 22.0s) and Geoff Powley in the Javelin (38.64m) and Pole Vault (2.70m). |
