Sleaford Half Marathon
RAF Cranwell
28 February 2010

Lincoln Wellington road runners took part in the Sleaford Half Marathon on the 28th February.

Lincoln Wellington did themselves proud on a very cold and dull day, braving very muddy conditions in first quarter of the race, where Richard Titchmarsh had a fight with some barbed wire but was not too badly injured he took it all in his stride.

The results are as follows in a very tightly fought race.  In the front was Richard Bateson who was a little disappointed to be beaten by a couple of vets who caught him the last stages of the race. Richard finished in a very good 7th place in 1h 18m 24s followed by Neil Coney in 17th place with a time of 1h 23m 06s and Peter Duncan in 19th place with a time of 1h 23m 16s.  These three took the first team prize.  They were quickly followed by John Burton in 1h 28m 32s and Phillip Malt with at a time 1h 28m 34s.  Glen Moore followed in good time of 1h 30m 29s and an excellent first Half Marathon time for Essex boy David Wilson in 1h 31m 37s.  Next was Peter Wass in a time of 1h 33m 50s then Richard Titchmarsh and V60 prize winner in 1h 37s 36s.  He was followed by hardy runner Geoff Hall in a good time of 1h 38m 38s.  Steve Bullivant came hurtling in in a very good time of 1h 40m 14s.  Ian Mair came in next and also did a very good time of 1h 42m 27s.  Running in together were Mick Ramsden and Andy Grimwood 1h 43m 12s & 15s respectively.  Hot on their heels was Nettie Wasyliw in a time of 1h 43m 45s.  Following Nettie was Gary Fenwick in a time of 1h 45m 21s.  Next was Deb Daley in a good time of 1h 46m 11s closely followed by Jane Charlesworth in 1h 46m 33s.  Nettie, Deb and Jane secured the Ladies team prize.  Behind them was Anne Gilroy in a time of 1h 48m 00s.  Rebecca Allen finished in a time of 1h 52m 50s.  Lucy Titchmarsh came in finishing strongly in 1h 53m 35s, closely followed by Martyn Lee in 1h 53m 49s and a not-so-well Jane Ramsden braved the cold weather in 1h 55m 43s.  Dave Smith ran his best time for a Half Marathon in 2h 06m 52s.  Amanda Holland Lee finished in 2h 11m 49s.  Mike Carter picked up an injury just before the race and had to run/walk the event to finish in 3h 02m 51s.

Lincoln Wellington took First Male Team prize and First Ladies Team prize.  Peter Duncan took first MV45.  Richard Titchmarsh took first MV60.

Well done to all that took part on a course that was quite hard, and to the many runners taking part who achieved personal best times.
