Poppy Run 5 Boston 8 November 2009 |
| Some classy running from the Lincoln Wellington endurance squad brought them a clutch of trophies at the Poppy 5 mile road race at Boston. Matt Bowser led the way with a strong front running effort bringing him home in a personal best 24m 17s. In the process he eclipsed the previous club record for the distance - which had stood for over 50 years - by 30s. Aaron Scott chased hard for 2nd place throughout - well clear of the rest of the field - and was rewarded by a personal best 25m 04s. Pete Duncan finished in 12th place in 29m 32s and was followed by Malcolm Brine 17th in 29m 57s and Glenn Moore 22nd in 31m 27s. Geoff Hall led in the next Wellington trio in 32m 55s with David Hall 30th in 33m 19s and Mark Lovett 32nd in 33m 46s. Dave Smith was the club's final mens finisher in 88th place in 44m 51s. Harriet Canter impressed with a clear cut win in the women's race in a personal best 29m 28s with training partner Natalie Farrow of Cleethorpes AC 2nd in 30m 02s. Lucinda Pitcher was close behind with a good time of 30m 15s for 3rd place and Susie Ardron completed the winning Wellington team with 34m 13s, which won her the trophy for 1st veteran over 45. Lucy Titchmarsh completed the Wellington squad with 40m 52s for 68th place overall. |
