Lincs League Cross Country Match 2 - Skegness 1 November 2009 |
|
Despite many of the Lincoln Wellington endurance squad having been in action the previous day at the National Cross Country Relays, the club still managed to notch up six individual successes at the 2nd Lincolnshire League match of the season at Skegness.
The U17 Women's team completely dominated their event with Libbie Read crossing the line comfortably ahead of Laura Donnelly and Sheridan McWilliam who filled the minor places.
Sam Hood followed this trio in 7th with Jasmine Cornwall completing the squad in 11th.
Fresh from her excellent run at the previous day's relays, Emma Tonner had a much easier time of it to come home well clear of the field in the
U15 Girls race. The Wellington domination in the female events continued throughout the rest of the programme.
Abbie Donnelly and Rebekah Ward recorded a 1-2 in the U13 Girls race with Clara Temple a little further back in 10th.
And Lucinda Pitcher was a very comfortable winner of the Junior/Senior
Women's race with new member Sophie Cowper 3rd and Sylvia Strangeway completing the winning team in 5th.
Janette Dunderdale followed in 12th position with Anne Gilroy 17th, Ann Storr 25th, Pat Kimpton 34th and Dot Fraser 38th.
Yasmin Fenton completed the Wellington female successes by winning the
U11 Girls contest from Abbie Small in 4th place and Georgina Campion 6th.
Rhiannon Martin and Lauren Sewell supported well in 7th and 8th places respectively.
Haran Dunderdale was the only other individual winner for Wellington when taking the U15 Boys race with Sam Chapman in the runner-up spot. Luke Martin came back in 6th place with Will Wheatley 8th. A big Wellington contingent in the Junior/Senior Men's race was led home by Les Ball with a good effort for 2nd place. Andy Dunderdale also did well to finish 3rd with Chris Woodger 7th and Neil Coney 8th. Dan Hogg followed these in 17th position with Pete Duncan 19th, Darren Holian 31st, Jack Cornwell 34th and Geoff Hall 42nd. There were only two Wellington athletes in the U13 Boys race, but both ran well with Declan Dickinson 3rd and Dion Harrison 4th. Adam Baker was the sole club athlete in the U17 Men's race and crossed the line in 4th place. |
