Lincs League Cross Country
Match 1 - RAF Cranwell
25 October 2009

The powerful Lincoln Wellington endurance squad put down an early marker for the Winter season with some outstanding results at the first Lincolnshire League cross country of the season at RAF Cranwell.  As expected, Matt Bowser completely dominated a big Senior Men's field and, with Tom Straw and Les Ball both running well for 2nd and 3rd, the club soon had a clean sweep on the board.  Andy Dunderdale did well to finish 8th with Neil Coney leading the club's large road running contingent home in 10th place.  Paul Samways was next across the line in 13th spot followed by Pete Duncan 15th, Dan Hogg 16th and Jon Hughes 19th.  800m runner Steve Gregory finished in 23rd position with Pete Wass 30th, Geoff Hall 39th and Darren Holian 40th.  Sprinter Martin Bradbury toughed it out to finish 51st in front of Mark Lovett 57th, Steve Bullivant 59th and Geoff Powley 61st.  In the Senior Women's race, Lucinda Pitcher had to work quite hard before drawing clear in the closing stages for a comfortable win.  New member Sophie Cowper did well to finish 2nd with Becky White picking up 4th spot.  Sylvia Strangeway had a good run in 6th place with Holly Haywood 9th, Netty Wasyliw 16th and Janette Dunderdale 20th.  Anne Gilroy finished 21st ahead of Ellie Clarke in 28th spot, Jane Ramsden 31st and Dot Fraser 44th.

The strong Wellington U17 Women's team dominated their event with Libbie Read scoring a very convincing success.  Laura Donnelly chased her home in 2nd place with Sheridan McWilliam 3rd.  Nicola Isaacs was not far behind in 7th with Sam Hood 11th, Gemma Selwood 12th and Becky Wells 15th.  The first four places in the U15 Boys contest went to Wellington with Sam Shuttleworth coming back ahead of Sam Chapman, Dylan Love and Richard Brine.  And there was a Wellington 1-2 in the U15 Girls race, with the very promising Emma Tonner picking up another win from Bo Haywood in 2nd.  The U13 Girls race went to Abbie Donnelly with Rebekah Ward 3rd and Clara Temple 13th.  And a final Wellington success went to Jasmine Kenton in the U11 Girls event with Rhiannon Martin 5th and Georgina Campion 6th.  Dion Harrison led home Wellington's U13 Boys squad in 3rd place with Joe Shuttleworth 4th and Daniel Skinner 6th.  Nathan Fawcett was a little further back in 8th and Max Chapman finished 11th.  The two U11 Boys from the club both did well with Ben Skinner picking up 3rd spot and Oliver Blanchard finishing 4th.
