Round Norfolk Relay
Norfolk
19-20 September 2009

The RNR course mirrors the Norfolk County boundary over a distance of 193 miles, divided into 17 unequal stages.  The 2009 RNR is programmed to take place on the 19th and 20th September.  The club is currently looking for 17 runners (plus additional reserve runners) to run a single leg of the relay (ranging in length from 5.4 to 19.7 miles) in the 28 or so hours the event will be running.

As the event is a 'pass the baton' relay, timing will depend on the length of the leg and the individual runners abilities, but at this stage we just need to know names of runners who are willing to participate in the event.  It should be noted that the date of the event clashes with the Berlin Marathon and may clash with other popular events in the calendar.  Please check with your running diary before committing yourself as once the teams' final preliminary declaration has been made to the event officials, it cannot be changed and the team will be penalised for missing runners/failed legs.

(Runners under the age of 15 are not permitted, and juniors aged between 15 and 16 on race day may only run a maximum of 6.2 miles, and are therefore restricted to running stages 3 and 16 only).

The club also requires the help of a comprehensive support team including team coordination staff, drivers, timekeepers, escort-cycle riders (and escort car drivers at night) and other support staff.  Willing volunteers who are able to give up their valuable time to help in this complex but rewarding event should also register their interest to the contact listed below.

Further information on the event, routes and rules can be found at from the event website at www.roundnorfolkrelay.com.

Interested parties should forward their name, contact number and preferred event leg (including estimated time for the leg) or what other task they would like to volunteer for to Darren Holian.
