BMAF T&F Championships
Alexander Stadium, Birmingham
4-5 July 2009

Four of the formidable Lincoln Wellington veteran squad were in recent action, competing in the British Masters Track and Field Championships at Birmingham.  And all four returned with medals to uphold their reputations.  Betty Stracey won gold in the 5000m in the W65 category in a time of 26m 10.3s and followed up with silver in the 1500m in 7m 30.7s.  In the W50 age group, a season's best 400m time of 54.99s gave Malc Bramhall a bronze medal and he was also 5th in the 200m final in 25.91s.  Another season's best went to Denise Timmis with 29.41s for 5th place in the 200m but she improved on that performance to pick up the silver medal in the Long Jump with a leap of 4.51m.  Dot Fraser has made a habit of medal winning in the veteran sprint events for many years but an injury problem sidelined her for the track. Undeterred however, she entered the W70 Hammer competition and added to her medal collection with a throw of 16.72m for silver.
