Match 3 - Grimsby

The in-form Lincoln Wellington youngsters stormed to a 100 plus points margin of victory in their latest Young Athletes League match at Grimsby. 

Joe Dunderdale has produced a string of fine performances with the Javelin this season and notched another success with a throw of 52.30m.  He also won the 100m Hurdles in 16.4 and finished 2nd in the Long Jump with 5.33m.  The B Long Jump went to Callan Dawson-Meadows with 4.77m.  Ian Maplethorpe has been in good form in the 1500m Steeplechase and came home unchallenged in that event in 4m 41.2s before also winning the Triple Jump with 10.09m.  The 800m races both went to Wellington with Ronnie Wilson taking the A race in 2m 05.2s and Jack Culpin winning the B contest in 2m 09.8s.  Matt Bee was a good 2nd in the 1500m in 4m 45.7s.  David Elleray scored in the Discus with a throw of 25.74m and was runner-up in the Shot with 8.87m.  The U15 Boys star was Liam Clarke with a trio of winning performances in the field.  He won the Discus with 34.14m (achieving the English Schools standard), the Javelin with 36.63m and the Shot with 10.19m.  Harry Baxter was well clear at the line in the 1500m in 4m 45.4s with the B race going to Haran Dunderdale in 4m 57.2s.  The latter also picked up the B 80m Hurdles in 16.40s.  Sam Shuttleworth took the 800m in 2m 12.5s and there were wins in both High Jump events for Josh Holden with 1.52m and Jay-T Warden with 1.30m.  U13 Alex Humberstone is having an exceptional season and he won the 100m in 13.6s and the Long Jump with 4.29m before losing out by a whisker in the 200m in 27.0s – the same time as the winner.  Once again Wellington were strong in the middle distances and the two 800m events went to Joe Shuttleworth in 2m 51.3s and Declan Dickinson in 2m 52.7s. 

For the U17 Womens squad, there were wins for Mary-Ann Phillips in the 200m in 26.5s and in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.40m Ellis Whyler took the 300m hurdles in 48.8s and the 80m Hurdles in 13.0s.  The B 300m Hurdles went to Megan Ball in 51.5s and she also won the 1500m in 5m 00.9s with Hester Talbot picking up the B race in 5m 08.3s.  Rebecca Wells notched a useful win in the 3000m in 12m 58.1s and, after Libbie Reid finished 2nd in the 800m in 2m 23.5s, the B race was won by Laura Donnelly in 2m 26.5s.  There was a double win for Wellington in the shot with Laura Maplethorpe recording 5.95m and Lindsay Campbell 5.68m.  Hannah Dunderdale maintained her fine current form with three successes for the U15 Girls.  Her best performance was a throw of 28.86m in the Javelin and she also took the Long Jump with 4.86m and the 75m Hurdles in 12.1s.  Katie McMunn won the B 75m Hurdles in 13.3s and further good points went to Beatrice Philips with a winning B High Jump clearance of 1.15m.  A classy effort from Rhiannon Philps gave her a comfortable win in the 800m in 2m 23.4s.  There were several fine performances from the U13 Girls.  Allison Mouzon won the 70m Hurdles in 12.7s and the High Jump with 1.37m.  Abbie Donnelly (2m 38.6s) and Rebekah Ward (2m 58.8s) took the two 800m races.  And the 1200m was won in good style by Catrina Thomas in 4m 18.4s.  A leap of 4.01m gave Abby Park a success in the Long Jump and Amy Clarke notched three B event wins with 11.1s in the 75m, 21.8s in the 150m, and 3.71m in the Long Jump.
