Young Athletes League N1E Match 2 - Jarrow 17 May 2009 |

A succession of excellent results across all the age groups gave the Lincoln Wellington juniors a very creditable 2nd place in their latest Young Athletes League match at Jarrow.
The U17 Womens team were in particularly good form, and a sprint double by Mary-Ann Phillips (100m in 13.1s and 200m in 26.9s) kicked off an impressive tally of successes. Caitlyn Lynch took the A 300m in 44.8s and Laura Donnelly won the B contest in 45.4s before also scoring in the B 800m in 2m 31.6s and the Triple Jump with 8.97m. The A 800m went to Megan Ball in 2m 24.7s and she also won the 300m Hurdles 52.1s. And there were good results in the two 1500m races with wins for Libbie Read in 5m 00.7s and Nicola Isaacs in 5m 02.6s. Hester Talbot was runner up in the 3000m in 11m 27.1s with Sheridan McWilliam taking 2nd place in the B race in 12m 00.0s. In the field events, Paige Mitchell won the Hammer with 26.60m and also took the B Discus with 18.72m. Rebecca Sullivan won the Discus with 24.73m, the Shot with 7.74m and the B Javelin with 15.70m. Laura Maplethorpe added to the points tally with wins in the Javelin (17.40m), B Hammer (22.50m) and B Shot (6.15m). For the U17 Mens team, Sam Parks won the 100m in 12.30s and the 200 in 25.00s. The B races went to Callan Dawson-Meadows in 13.0s and 26.3s respectively. Jack Culpin was first home in the 1500m in 4m 37.1s and was 2nd in the 400m in 58.0s. And the 800m went to Ronny Wilson in 2m 12.4s. David Ellery did very well in the field with wins in the Hammer (24.05m) and Shot (9.16m) and 2nd place in the Discus (23.65m). Top scorer for the U15 Boys was Liam Clarke with wins in the Discus (31.70m), Shot (9.89m) and Javelin (36.47m). Will Arden won the 1500m in 4m 57.2s and was also 2nd in the 400m in 60.3s. And the 800m races were won by Sam Shuttleworth in 2m 15.0s and Harry Baxter in 2m 23.1s. The former also won the High Jump with 1.50m. Alex Humberstone notched a trio of successes for the U13 Boys team with 27.7s in the 200m, 14.20s in the 75m Hurdles and 4.22m in the Long Jump. Daniel Skinner won the B 200m in 31.8s and Joe Shuttleworth was 2nd in the 1500m in 5m 47.0s. Amy Clarke was also in fine form for the U13 Girls with wins in the Long Jump (3.84m) and 150m (21.9s) and 2nd spot in the 100m in 11.2s. The A 100m went to Allison Mouzon in 10.9s and she completed a treble with the 70m Hurdles in 13.2s and High Jump in 1.27m. Catrina Thomas won the 800m in 2m 37.5s and picked up good points with a win in the B Long Jump with 3.35m. Abbie Donnelly recorded a good 2nd place in the 1200m in 4m 11.3s. Scoring was not so heavy in the U15 Girls age group, but Rhiannon Philps did well to win the 800m in 2m 24.2s and followed with a throw of 20.05m to score in the Javelin. Lucy Helas and Ellie Mason-Powers both picked up some useful points with places in the sprints. |
