National Women's 6-Stage Road Relays Sutton Park 18 April 2009 |

Excellent running from the Lincoln Wellington senior women’s team saw them take a highly creditable 16th place in the National 6 Stage Road Relays round a tough three-mile circuit of Birmingham’s Sutton Park.
With all the leading clubs in the country represented and many of the top endurance athletes on duty, this was a terrific effort from the Lincoln squad and they finished the race with plenty of big-name clubs behind them. Lucinda Pitcher got the team off to a solid start and returned in 26th place from the 63 starters with a time of 18m 06s. Blue Haywood then ran a fine 2nd leg to pick up nine places in 17m 18s and cross the line in 17th position. Harriet Canter continued the progress on leg 3 and a very good effort brought her back in 14th spot in 17m 24s. 800m runner Rochelle Harrison toughed it out well on the 4th leg and conceded just a couple of places to finish 16th in 19m 38s before Lara Thomas, who was also having her stamina stretched at this distance, did very well to pick up one place with a time of 18m 58s. Rachael Nathan made a welcome return to the club vest on the final leg and a good effort considering her lack of recent training saw her bring the club home in 16th place in a very respectable time of 19m 28s. |
