Lincoln Wellington’s Dorothy Fraser shrugged off a recent heel injury to add two more medals to her collection at the European Veteran’s Indoor Championships at Ancona in Italy.
Competing in the W70 category, she collected a silver medal in the 60m with a time of 10.78s and followed up with a terrific effort in the 200m to grab a second silver medal in an excellent time of
37.73s.
There was a further medal for the small Wellington squad when Betty Stracey took 3rd spot in the
W65 1500m in a time of 7m 19.27s. She completed a gruelling championship by placing 4th in the 3000m in
15m 24.9s and also taking 5th position in the cross country event.
Denise Timmis was the 3rd Wellington athlete competing at the championships and a good leap of 4.55m gave her 5th place in a very competitive W45 category long jump.
Unfortunately, her time of 29.70s in her heat of the 200m was not quite sufficient to earn her a place in the final.
