BMAF Indoor Championships
Lee Valley
7-8 March 2009

A string of high quality performances brought the Lincoln Wellington veteran athletes a rich medal haul at the British Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships at Lee Valley Stadium.

Betty Stracey led the way by taking gold in the W65 category 1500m in a time of 7m 10.21s and completing a double by winning the 3000m in 15m 01.03s.  Malc Bramhall ran an excellent 400m in the M50 category and took a well deserved gold in 55.5s.  In the High Jump, he leapt 1.55m to win silver and equal his club record.  In the 200m final, he finished in 4th place in 25.8s.  A third gold for Wellington went to Denise Timmis with a good leap of 4.51m to win the W45 Long Jump.

Les Ball turned in a couple of excellent runs in the M40 middle distance contests and, after taking bronze in the 1500m in 4m 15.91s on the first day, he returned the following day to take a silver medal in the 800m in 2m 05.57s.  A final medal went to Hayley Fox with a clearance of 2.20m in the W35 Pole Vault which was good enough to earn her 2nd place.  She also picked up 4th place in the Hammer with 23.26m.  Jon Hughes was pleased with his time of 4m 44.37s for 6th place in a competitive M50 1500m.  And John Moore also did well to win the 400m B final in the M50 age group with a time of 60.20s and also take 3rd spot in the B 60m in 8.39s.
