Match 4 - Grantham

With many of Lincoln Wellington’s senior athletes on duty at the Northern Cup match, it was the club’s young athletes who took most of the honours at the final Lincolnshire League track and field meeting of the season at Grantham. 

Haran Dunderdale won the 1500m in 5m 06.0s and followed with a club record 21.94m for 2nd in the Discus and a 1.35m clearance for a further runner up spot in the High Jump. Dylan Love won the 800m in 2m 37.7s and was also 2nd in the 100m and 4th in the 200m. Liam Clarke won the U15 Boys Discus with 23.60m, the Shot with 10.04m and the Javelin with 26.43m to complete an excellent afternoon. Richard Brine won the 1500m in 4m 55.8s with Matt Bee 2nd in 4m 59.8s and the former also went on to win the Long Jump with 4.34m from Sam Chapman in 2nd place with 4.32m. Two more new U15s also did very well with Lewis Goddard winning the Triple Jump with 9.51m and Tom Mathews the 200m in 24.8s with James Bermingham 3rd in 28.0s.  In the U17 age group, Ian Maplethorpe won the County Championships 5000m in 17m 29.1s and Joe Dunderdale picked up 2nd places in the Shot, Javelin and Discus. The U20 10000m County Championship winner was Paul Samways in 40m 29.2s and in the 800m Jack Cornwell was 2nd in 2m 10.1s with Henry Naughton 3rd in 2m 13.6s. 

The outstanding Girls U13 performance came from Katie McMunn with a trio of victories. She took the 100m in 14.1s, The 200m in 29.6s and the High Jump with 1.30m. Hannah Dunderdale won the U15 Girls Shot with a club record 9.86m and went on to score in the Long Jump with 4.93m. Megan Ball added to her recent successes by winning the 800m in 2m 26.3s with Dunderdale 2nd in 2m 29.2s and Jasmine Cornwell 3rd in 2m 34.6s. In the U17 age group there was a win for Holly Haywood in the 800m in 2m 39.3s with Gemma Selwood 2nd in 2m 43.0s and the same pair went on to finish 2nd and 3rd in the 1500m. Michelle Finch ran well to win the 200m in 31.4s and finish 2nd in the 100m in 14.8s. New member Tina Sudell notched a new club Javelin record in the W40 age group when winning the veteran competition with 20.90m.
