Coventry
2 August 2008
Six Wellington athletes travelled to Coventry to compete in the British Milers Club young athletes
PB Classic meeting. With pacemakers in every race it offers an excellent opportunity to record fast times and the Lincoln contingent duly obliged.
First in action was Hester Talbot in one of the 800m races, closely following the pacemaker she ran a well judged race to place 2nd in a new personal best time of 2m
20.92s.
Jack Cornwell placed 4th in his 800m with a time of 2m 14.32s, sister Jasmine showed a return to better form in her 800m finishing 2nd in
2m 30.35s, while in the same race there was a new PB for Gemma Selwood with
2m 33.35s.
All races were electronically timed and with balmy weather conditions our athletes were
enjoying the racing. In the final 1500m race of the night Libbie Read took advantage of some excellent pacemaking to produce a very strong finish, shattering her
PB by six seconds to stop the clock in first place in a time of 5m 8.36s, behind her in 4th place Nicola Isaacs also registered a new
PB with a time of 5m 18.15s.
