LWAC - EVAA Championships - Lyublyana, Slovenia

Lincoln Wellington super veteran Dorothy Fraser has returned from another major championship with a superb medal haul. Competing in the W70 category at the European Veteran Championships in Slovenia she added a remarkable five more medals to her amazing collection. Her top performance came in the 200m where she flew home several metres clear of her nearest rival to score in a terrific time of 35.89s. In the 100 metres she picked up the silver medal with a time of 17.24s and she completed the full set by winning bronze in the 400m in 86.12s. She followed up these individual performances with two more podium appearances as part of the British relay squads which won silver in the 4 x 400m and bronze in the 4 x 100 metres event.

Wellington long distance veteran Betty Stracey was also called up for relay duty and after finishing 7th in the 10000 metres and 10th in the 5000 metres she was delighted to collect a pair of team medals for racing over distances which she has very rarely been involved in.

There was another medal for a Wellington athlete with Denise Timmis collecting silver in the 4 x 100 relay in the W45 age group. Despite just missing out on the final, Denise also improved her club 200m record to 28.82s in the heats of that event.
