Lincs T&F League
Match 3 - Grantham
13 July 2008

Lincoln Wellington athletes turned out in force at the third Lincolnshire league match of the season at Grantham. And the club’s current strength in depth was well illustrated with a string of successes across virtually every age group. Alex Humberstone led the way for the U13 Boys by winning the 100m in 14.4s, the 200m in 29.2s and also the Long Jump with 4.30m. There was a good field event double for Haran Dunderdale with wins in the Javelin with 32.67m, (U13 Boys Club Record), and also the Discus with 20.67m. Dylan Love was first across the line in the 1500m in a good time of 5m 15.1s. In the U15 age group, Matt Bee just got home in front in the 1500m in 4m 57.5s with Richard Brine close behind in 2nd place in 4m 58.6s. James Bermingham was 2nd in the 100m in 13.0s and 3rd in the 200m in 27.8s. Adam Baker finished 2nd in the 3000m in 10m 58.3s and a good Javelin effort of 39.73m gave Joe Dunderdale 3rd place. The U17 800m went to Jon Humberstone in 2m 08.9s with David Elleray scoring in the Shot with 8.74m. Paul Samways won the U20 1500m in 4m 48.9s and, in a good Wellington battle in the 400m, Max Ware emerged in 2nd place with 54.1s from Tom Straw 3rd (54.5s), Shane Robinson 4th (55.5s), Jack Cornwell 5th (56.3s) and Gavin Campbell 6th (59.9s). The only Senior Men’s winner was Jim Slater with a throw of 34.39m in the Discus. However the veteran men had plenty of success with Adey White winning the Javelin with 39.39m (a Club Record in the M35 age group) and also taking the Pole Vault with 3.60m for another Club Record. Malc Bramhall won the 100m in 12.6s, the 200m in 25.7s and the 400m with 54.8s. And Andy Dunderdale’s busy afternoon gave him wins in the 1500m in 4m 39.7s and High Jump with 1.50m as well as places in several other events.

Rhiannon Philps was a very good winner of the U13 Girls 1500m in a personal best 5m 18.3s with Catrina Thomas 2nd in 5m 21.2s. Katie McMunn won the 200m in 29.1s and was 2nd in the Long Jump with 4.08m. And the U13 High Jump went to Allison Mouzon with a clearance of 1.30m. Hannah Dunderdale took the U15 100m in 13.4s and also won the Shot with 9.77m. And there was a good 800m result for the club with Megan Ball winning in 2m 26.8s from Libby Reid 2nd in 2m 28.8s and Nichola Isaacs 4th in 2m 30.6s. Frances Aitchison won the U17 1500m in 5m 11.9s with Holly Haywood 3rd and Laura Clark 4th and the 800m went to Ellie Jones in 2m 32.7s. Mary-Ann Phillips was a clear winner of the 200m 26.7s and Hester Talbot took the 300m in 46.1s. Blue Haywood made all the running to win the U20 1500m in 4m 48.6s with Rochelle Harrison chasing her hard for 2nd with a personal best 4m 53.4s. Ellie Clarke won the 400m in 66.7s and Lara Thomas made a winning debut in the 3000m in 10m 46.1s. Hayley Fox was the only senior winner with a clearance of 2.40m in the Pole Vault but there were several fine performances from the club’s veteran contingent. Denise Timmis won the Long Jump with 4.56m and then set a Club Record 14.1s for the 100m in the W45 category. Dot Fraser was 4th in the 100m in 16.8s, which was a Club Record in the W70 category.
