BMAF T&F Championships
Birmingham
5-6 July 2008

A trio of gold medals for Dorothy Fraser spearheaded some terrific performances from the Lincoln Wellington squad at the British Masters Track and Field Championships at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.

Fraser has been almost totally dominant in the sprint events in her age group for a number of years and her stranglehold was maintained when she won the 100m in 18.01s, the 200m in 37.27s and the 400m in 89.70s in the W70 category to add three more gold medals to her collection. Denise Timmis was also on the medal rostrum with a fine leap of 4.70m giving her a silver in the W45 long jump. She added to that with a bronze medal in the 200m in 29.67s and was also 4th in the 100m in 14.50s. Les Ball is new to Master’s competition but performed with great credit on his debut. He was a close 4th in the 1500m in the M40 category with a personal best 4m 11.58s on the first day of the meeting but went back the following day to claim an excellent bronze medal in another personal best time of 2m 03.11s in the 800m. The final Wellington medal went to Betty Stracey who was delighted to pick up silver in the W65 5000m in a time of 26m 20.0s. Malc Bramhall competed in three events in the M45 age group with his best result being 4th place in the 400m in 55.10s. He was 5th in his heat of the 100m in 12.83s and took the same position in his 200m heat in 25.55s.
