Match 3 - Doncaster
1 June 2008

Lincoln Wellington had to settle for 2nd place in their latest Young Athletes League Division 1 North match - beaten by a strong Doncaster squad who were performing on their home track at Keepmoat Stadium. A superb effort from Rhiannon Philps to win the U13 Girls 1200m in a club record 4m 03.7s was the star Wellington performance and, in the same race, Catrina Thomas also eclipsed the previous record when winning the B contest in 4m 05.2s. In the same age group, Emma Tonner won the 800m in 2m 40.2s and the long jump with 3.81m. And there were B string field event successes for Amy Clarke in the long jump and Ellie Mason-Powers in the shot. For the U15 Girls, Hannah Dunderdale produced a fine performance to win the 75m hurdles in 12.5s and Caitlyn Lynch had a good win in the 200m in 27.3s. Libbie Read took the A 1500m in 5m 22.2s with Laura Donnelly scoring in the B race in 5m 28.9s. Mary-ann Phillips was in good form for the U17 Womens team and won the 200m in 26.4s and the high jump with 1.35m. The B 200m went to Shireen Timmis in 26.7s. Hester Talbot just prevailed in a tight finish to the 800m with a winning time of 2m 23.8s with the B race going to Jenny Vigurs in 2m 57.1s. And there was another middle distance success for Wellington when Francis Aitchison-Boundy won the 1500m in 5m 11.0s.

As in the previous matches, there were plenty of Wellington winners in the U17 Mens age group. Stuart Campbell took the 1500m steeplechase in a good time of 4m 41.1s and followed up in the 400m hurdles with a win in 63.6s. Matt Houlden went one better with a trio of victories. He scored in the triple jump with a splendid leap of 12.38m and also took the 200m in 24.1s and the 100m hurdles in 15.8s. Chris Woodger was an easy winner of the 1500m in 4m 21.1s with the B contest in this event going to Kyle Fawcett in 4m 53.4s. And further B string wins were recorded by Neil Humberstone in the 100m hurdles (19.1s) and 200m (24.3s), by Matt Moore in the 100m in 13.0s and by Jon Humberstone in the 1500m steeplechase in 5m 16.7s. A terrific team performance from Nathan Cox, Chris Woodger, Stuart Campbell and Jack Skeet gave the 4 x 400m relay squad a very impressive win in a new club record time of 3m 43.3s. Matt Bee was the only A race winner for Wellington in the U15 Boys age group when he picked up the 1500m in 4m 49.2s.
