The second day provided another big crop of medals for the athletes of Lincoln Wellington. Talented all rounder Haran Dunderdale had another remarkable day and picked up three gold medals in the
U13 Boys age group by winning 75m hurdles in 14.1s, the shot with 8.36m and the 800m in
2m 30.5s with Alex Humberstone 2nd in 2m 33.5s. The latter went on to take gold in the 200m in 28.5s ahead of Josh Drotleff who won silver in
29.1s. In the U15 Boys 200m there was another Wellington 1-2 with James Bermingham winning in 27.4s and Richard Brine taking the runner-up spot in
28.2s. Adam Baker finished 2nd in the 800m in the same age group in 2m
24.9s. The U17 Mens 800m provided evidence of Wellington’s strength in depth in the middle distances with Chris Woodger taking gold in
2m 01.2s ahead of Jack Skeet 2nd in 2m 02.5s with Stuart Campbell 3rd in
2m 03.6s and Jon Humberstone 4th in 2m 05.3s. Ian Maplethorpe was a good winner of the 3000m in
9m 35.0s. The U20 Mens 5000m went to Shane Robinson 16m 41.4s and in the 800m the Wellington trio of Beren Cross
(2m 07.8s), Max Ware (2m 09.3s) and Jack Cornwell (2m 09.7s) finished 3rd, 4th and 5th. Marc Afford won his second gold of the weekend when taking the senior men’s 110m hurdles in 18.2s and there was a win in the long jump for Steve Swaby with 5.78m. Tom Duffield finished 2nd in the 200m in 24.2s and Craig Maskell placed 3rd in the 800m in
2m 04.8s. A high class effort from Les Ball gave him a win in the V40 800m in an excellent time of
2m 04.4s – a championship best performance by almost five seconds.

A near clean sweep of the gold medals for the Lincoln Wellington U13 Boys squad spearheaded a fantastic first day for the club at the Lincolnshire track and field championships at Grantham. Haran Dunderdale performed particularly well to win the javelin with 30.37m, the high jump with 1.35m and the 1500m in
5m 11.9s with Alex Willerton runner-up in 5m 30.2s. Alex Humberstone cleared 4.24m to win the long jump and Josh Drotleff was 2nd in the 100m in
14.5s. There was an impressive win by Matt Bee in the U15 Boys 1500m in
4m 49.8s with Adam Baker following him home in 4m 56.2s. And in the 100m, James Bermingham picked up 2nd spot in
13.1s. The U17 Mens 1500m steeplechase went to Stuart Campbell in a very good time of
4m 40.3s. In the same age group, the 1500m resembled a Wellington club championship with Chris Woodger scoring in
4m 19.6s with Ian Maplethorpe 2nd in 4m 21.2s, Nathan Page 4th in 4m
26.6s and Jon Humberstone 5th in 4m 38.2s. Jack Skeet took the 400m title in good style in 53.1s and Joe Dunderdale was 2nd in the javelin with 39.18m and 3rd in the shot with 9.40m. A smart performance from Shane Robinson in the 400m hurdles with a time of 62.5s provided the only
U20 Mens win of the day but useful placed efforts came from Josh Spering and Jack Cornwell who were 2nd and 3rd in the 400m in 56.0s and 56.8s respectively. Max Ware finished in 3rd place in the 1500m in
4m 24.8s. A strong contender for performance of the meeting came from Tom Doe in the senior men’s 3000m steeplechase. His winning time of
9m 14.0s took over 30 seconds off the previous championship best performance. New member Marc Afford won the 400m hurdles in 61.7s and Steve Gregory made a welcome return to the track following injury lay-off by taking the 400m in 51.9s with Craig Maskell 2nd in
54.4s. Phil Williams was runner-up in the 1500m in 4m 09.7s and Steve Swaby took the same position in the javelin with a throw of 36.67m. The veteran
mens 1500m saw a wide margin win by Les Ball in 4m 16.8s with Jon Hughes taking 2nd place in
4m 43.7s to record a club record in the V50 age group. Malc Bramhall scored a good double in the V45 age group by winning the 100m in 12.4s and the 400m in
54.3s.
Catrina Thomas got a win on the board for the U13 Girls by taking the 1500m in
5m 19.8s with Rhiannon Philips 2nd in 5m 20.7s. Katie McMunn won the javelin with 18.86m, the long jump with 4.27m and followed with 2nd spot in the 100m in
14.3s. Good sprint prospect Caitlin Lynch won the U15 Girls 100m in
12.9s. And in the same age group Hannah Dunderdale recorded 2nd places in the shot (9.49m), discus (19.16m) and long jump (4.87m). In the
U17 Womens 100m Shireen Timmis (12.9s) just held off Mary-Ann Phillips
(13.0s) and the latter was also 2nd in the 300m in 43.5s. Georgia Ball led from gun to tape in the 1500m in
4m 52.5s but Hester Talbot was not far behind in a personal best 4m
55.4s. A good tussle in the U20 Womens 400m saw Lara Thomas emerge on top with a win in 59.9s from Rochelle Harrison 2nd in
60.7s. Lucinda Pitcher was another all the way winner in the senior women’s 1500m in
4m 57.2s and there were wins for Nina Swaby in the 100m in 13.8s and the triple jump with 8.92m. Denise Timmis and Kathy Warhurst contested some of the veteran events. The former won the 100m in the V45 age group in 14.3s and the latter was 2nd in the V40 discus with a club record 19.49m.
Catrina Thomas notched her 2nd win of the championships in the U13 Girls 800m with a good time of
2m 33.4s and Katie McMunn won the 70m hurdles in 12.8s and the shot with 7.11m before finishing 3rd in the 200m in
29.8s. A terrific 200m in the U15 Girls age group gave Caitlyn Lynch gold in 26.3s and she is looking a very good future prospect. Libbie Read won the 3000m in
11m 30.6s and Hannah Dunderdale picked up places in the 75m hurdles
(12.5s), 200m (27.5s) and javelin (21.14m). Vicki Lawrence cleared 1.35m for 3rd spot in the high jump and Megan Ball finished in the same position in the 800m in
2m 30.7s. Mary-Ann Phillips and Shireen Timmis finished 1-2 in the U17
Womens 200m in 26.5s and 26.7s respectively. And in the 3000m there was a win for Frances Aitchison in
11m 06.8s with Holly Haywood 3rd in 12m 04.3s. Georgia Ball crossed the line 2nd in the 800m in
2m 22.3s with Hester Talbot a little further back in 3rd place in 2m
27.5s. Lara Thomas came out on top in a good U20 Womens 800m in 2m 17.9s and was followed by Rochelle Harrison in 2nd place in
2m 19.1s. Multi-eventer Lydia Chamberlin had a good day and won the
Senior Womens high jump with 1.60m, the long jump with 4.88m and the 200m in 25.9s before finishing 2nd in the javelin with 25.38m. Denise Timmis notched a brace of gold medals in the V45 long jump (4.54m) and 200m
(29.0s) and a final gold was won by Kathy Warhurst in the V40 javelin with 14.26m.
