Match 2 - Grantham

Lincoln Wellington athletes were out in force at the 2nd Lincolnshire track and field league meeting of the season at Grantham. And a string of fine performances across all the age groups provided ample evidence that a successful season should lie ahead.
In the U13 Girls age group, there was an outstanding effort from Catrina Thomas to win the 1500m impressively in a cracking time of
5m 17.4s. Katie McMunn is also looking a big talent in the same age group and she took the 100m in
14.6s, the 200m in 30.0s and also won the shot with 6.87m. In the U15
Girls events, Hannah Dunderdale produced some excellent results. A club record throw of 26.51m won her the javelin and she followed with 9.40m to win the triple jump and 13.9s for 2nd in the 100m. The latter contest went to Caitlin Lynch in a nippy 13.3s and she completed a good double by taking the 200m in
27.8s. In the 800m, there was a win for Megan Ball in 2m 29.2s with Jasmine Cornwell 3rd in
2m 35.0s. Vicki Lawrence’s best event was the triple jump where she finished 2nd with 8.69m. Laura Donnelly was 2nd in the 1500m in
5m 24.1s with Libby Read 3rd in 5m 25.2s.
Mary-Ann Phillips took the U17 Womens 100m in 13.2s with Shireen Timmis 2nd in 13.4s and the former went on to pick up 2nd place in the 200m in
27.8s. Hester Talbot ran well to win the 1500m in 5m 07.2s from Holly Haywood 2nd in
5m 20.2s. And there was a debut win for Frances Aitchinson-Boundy in the 3000m in
11m 31.0s. Rochelle Harrison notched a couple of wins in the U20 age group when scoring in the 400m in 61.5s and the 200m in
28.9s. There were wins in the veteran women’s age group for Denise Timmis in the long jump with 4.52m and Sharon Waller in the shot with 6.78m.
Jack McMunn finished a promising 2nd in the U11 Boys 80m in 15.2s. And in the
U13 Boys age group there was a win in the javelin for Haran Dunderdale with 28.61m. Alex Humberstone was 2nd in the 800m in
2m 33.2s and Josh Drotleff occupied the same position in the 100m in
15.2s. There was a useful effort by Adam Baker to take the U15 Boys 1500m in
4m 48.4s. And further wins in the same age group went to James Birmingham in the 200m in 27.9s and Matt Bee in the 800m in
2m 25.1s. Stuart Campbell took the U17 Mens 1500m steeplechase in 4m
51.5s with Max Ware 2nd in 5m 08.4s. Nathan Page won the 1500m in 4m
30.3s and Joe Dunderdale took the javelin with a good throw of 37.17m. The pick of the
U20 Mens results was a fine win by Shane Robinson in the 1500m steeplechase in
4m 38.0s. Jack Cornwell won the 400m in 55.7s with Josh Spering 3rd in
56.9s. Phil Williams was the only senior man competing for Wellington and he took the 1500m in good style in
4m 06.8s. There were some good veteran men’s performances with Malc Bramhall winning the 100m in
12.6s, the 200m in 25.4s and the 400m in 54.7s. Jon Hughes recorded a club record 1500m time of
4m 49.1s in the over 50 age group.
