Lincolnshire vs. RAF ATC
RAF Cranwell
29 March 2008
|
Three LWAC athletes were amongst those representing Lincolnshire for the annual cross country match against the National
Air Cadets, held at a windy RAF Cranwell on Saturday. This year, for the first time ever, the meeting incorporated the
Air Cadets national championships, featuring teams from as far as Scotland and Northern Ireland, Wales, the Southwest and
others, significantly increasing the number of competitors. The course used for this event includes the infamous
'Cardiac Hill' in each 4.5k race but all three club members rose to the challenge.
Making a rare outing over the country this year following injury problems, and on a very muddy course, Jack Skeet was pleased with his performance, placing 6th in the U17 Mens race. Gemma Selwood and Ryan Paul made their county debuts and didn't disappoint. Arriving late after a traffic hold-up, Gemma had little time to warm up for the under 15 girls race, but started steadily and worked her way through the pack to finish in 6th place and 3rd counter for the team. Ryan competed in the U15 Boys event, relishing the competition, he improved steadily throughout the race to come home 1st Lincolnshire counter in 7th place. |
