Lincoln Wellington athletes did their coaches proud
with some exceptional performances in the latest North Midlands Cross-Country
meeting at Mansfield.
In the U13 Girls race over a 3k undulating course, Bo Haywood showed her immense potential running the legs off girls almost 2 years her senior, to win comfortably in a time of 11m 34s - a performance that would have placed her 3rd in the U15 Girls race. Abbey Donnelly also beat a lot of girls older than her to finish in 16th place. In the U15 Girls race over the same 3k course, the LWAC girls ran together with Gemma Selwood finishing 25th, Hannah Dunderdale 27th and Jas Cornwell 29th. Holly Haywood was Lincoln's only competitor in the U17 Womens race over 4k and, with another strong performance, Holly came home in 13th place. In the 6k Senior Womens race, 16 year old Blue Haywood displayed her international credentials dominating the race from the start to the finish, winning by an astonishing 250m. Blue was followed home by Harriet Canter in 5th place, Lucinda Pitcher 10th, V45 lady Suzie Ardron finished in front of a lot of senior ladies in 33rd with Janette Dunderdale completing the team in 42nd place.
Haran Dunderdale competed in the U13 Boys race and, with a fast last mile, he moved through the field to finish 2nd. Ian Maplethorpe finished strongly in the U15 Boys race over 4k to take 3rd just in front of Nathan Page in 4th who was followed home by Matt Bee in 10th and Joe Dunderdale in 20th. In the U17 Mens race over 6k, Tom Straw ran an even paced race to finishing 2nd with team mates Chris Woodger, Max Ware, Jack Cornwell and Josh Spering in 13th, 20th, 21st and 29th places. In the Senior Mens race, 25 year old Tom Doe produced an impressive performance finishing 4th, with V40 Andy Dunderdale 77th and V45 Geoff Powley 184th.
