Lincs League Cross Country - Match 3
Riseholme College
25 November 2007

Lincoln Wellington athletes enjoyed a successful afternoon when the club hosted the third Lincolnshire League cross country match of the winter on a new course at Riseholme.

Alex Humberstone and Katrina Thomas got the home club off to a flyer by taking the first two places in the combined U11 event with Alex Willerton in 3rd spot completing a Wellington clean sweep. The in form Haran Dunderdale notched another win in the U13 boys race and with Dylan Love in 6th place and Luke Martin 12th the first team victory of the afternoon was secured. The two U15 races also produced victorious Wellington teams. Ian Maplethorpe was first home for the boys in 2nd place with Matt Bee 4th and Adam Baker 10th. And in the girls event Laura Donnelly had a good run to pick up 3rd place just ahead of Hester Talbot in 4th spot with Libbie Reid completing the team in 5th. Megan Ball 6th, Gemma Selwood 9th and Caitlyn Lynch 11th completed the 3rd placed Wellington B team. A final team win for Wellington came in the U17 womens race with Lara Thomas leading home the club quartet in 3rd position with Rochelle Harrison 4th, Holly Haywood 5th and Charlotte Spratt 6th.

Shane Robinson was a good winner for the club in the U17 mens race with Chris Woodger a little further back in 4th and Max Ware 8th taking 2nd team spot. Jack Cornwell followed these three in 9th position with Jon Humberstone 12th and Henry Naughton 18th. There was a good field for the senior mens event and Mick Jagger showed he had shaken off a recent injury with a convincing win. Art Connolly did well to finish 9th and Elliott Haywood made his seasonal debut with a steady run in 24th place. Several of the clubs senior women were unavailable for this race and Kathy Warhurst was the first Wellington athlete across the line in 5th position. Sylvia Strangeway 10th and Janette Dunderdale 11th completed the 2nd placed A team. In the U13 girls race Abbie Donnelly came back in 6th place with Rhiannon Philips 21st and Mary Lester 22nd.

The final meeting of the series will be at Skegness on 9th December.
