Lincs League Cross Country - Match 2
4 November 2007
With many of the Lincoln Wellington athletes having competed at the National Cross Country Relays on the previous day, it was
a somewhat depleted squad that contested the second Lincolnshire cross country match of the season at Harlaxton Manor near
The two Wellington winners both came in the U11 age group with Alex Humberstone taking the boys event in good style and Catrina Thomas confirming her promise with an excellent victory in the girls race. The U13 Boys picked up a team win with Richard Brine leading the squad back in 3rd place ahead of Sam Chapman in 6th position with Connor Malt, Lewis Goddard and Josh Malt all in a group a little further behind in 14th to 16th places. Three U13 Girls turned out for Wellington with Lucy Helas in 11th place finishing just in front of Rhiannon Phillps 13th and Katie McMunn 17th. In the U15 Girls event Rebecca Wells had a good run to finish 7th with Sheridan McWilliam just behind in 8th. Laura McMunn completed the 2nd placed team in 11th spot with Lindsay Campbell 15th and Laura Maplethorpe 26th. There was a very small field in the U17 Womenís race, but a good effort from Rochelle Harrison saw her across the line in 2nd place with Jenny Vigurs some way back in 3rd. Another team success came in the U17 Menís race with Chris Woodger leading home the Wellington contingent in 3rd place. Max Ware followed in 4th spot and Josh Spering completed the team with 11th position. A ĎBí team in this race was comprised of Jon Humberstone, Ben Rowe and Neil Humberstone with these three finishing 9th, 11th and 16th respectively.
A good run from Jane Clarke gave her 3rd place in the Senior Women's race. She was followed in by Kathy Warhurst 10th, Janette Dunderdale 12th and Pat Kimpton 36th. Colm McCoy did best for the Senior Menís squad in 16th position with Phil Malt 32nd, Richard Titchmarsh 42nd and Neil Campbell 69th.
The clubís athletes will be in action next at the 2nd North Midlands League match of the season at Markeaton Park, Derby on 10th November.
