Lincoln Wellington AC athletes prepare for the final event of the
season, representing the County at Derby.
Lincoln Wellington athletes are preparing for the end of the track and
field season. This week the final race's take place for the U13s and U15s
at this weekend's Inter-County track and field match held at
Derby. With a large number of the county team coming from Lincoln
Wellington AC, this match will be their final opportunity to put the
season's training into action.
One athlete from the club who has had success more recently is
Mary-Ann Phillips, the rising U15 year old has gone from strength to
strength this summer, achieving a number of personal bests. Recently
competing at the final Lincs League T&F match, which took place at
Boston, she took part in the 100m achieving a new PB of 12.7s. She then
went on to the 200m and gained a time of 26.5s, also a new PB, and still went
on to compete in the Long Jump and managed to leap into the sand for another
PB of 4.56m, Mary-Ann will be competing at the weekend and with the weather
set to be reasonable she has a very good chance of finishing her season with
yet more personal bests.
At the same event as Mary-Ann, one of the club's newest members, Jack
Cornwell put on the Lincoln Wellington vest for the first time to compete in
the U17 400m in a time of 58.4s, he has also achieved a new personal best
in the 800m at one of the Charnwood Open meetings with a time of 2m 15.5s,
smashing his previous PB.
