European Masters Championships
Eskilstuna, Sweden

The Wellington vet ladies enjoyed a good medal haul at the recent European Masters Championships in Sweden.

Betty Stracey (V65) led the way with four medals.  She ran an impressive club record time of 14m 16.81s to gain a bronze in the 3000m.  She followed this up with another club record time of 6m 48.29s for silver in the 1500m.  She then gained gold in the 5k cross-country in 27m 26s.  Finally she gained a team gold in the relay.

Dot Fraser also impressed in the V65 age group, gaining silver medals in the 200m (35m 96s) and 400m (83m 00s).  She also won a team gold in the relay.

Denise Timmis (V40), competing in much larger fields than the older ladies, gained 8th place in the long jump with 4.51m and also competed in the 200m.
