In the first race of the day, U13 Jack Skeet ran very well to finish 2nd of 43 starters in a time of 13 minutes
14 seconds.
Next race to start was the U15 Girls. Lara Thomas and Becki Jones made a positive start and were right up in the leading pack
in the early stages. As the race progressed over the sodden, muddy, undulating course, it was proving to be a close contest at
the front. Crossing the finishing line together, Becki was given the nod in 4th place over Lara in 5th, with both given the
same time of 14 minutes 32. With an encouraging run from Rebecca Jackson (quote "It was fun!") finishing 20th in her comeback
race in 16.03, the team placed 2nd on the day and are now in 3rd place overall in the league. 41 athletes finished the U15 Girls
event.
Wellington had 3 representatives in the U17W/U20W/SW/VW race. Conditions underfoot were now very slippery as the field of 96
runners made its way round the 2 lap course. A fine run from U20 Cat Foley saw her home in 21st position in a time of 28 minutes
10 seconds. Sarah Kimpton (U17W) ran a better judged race than she had at Derby a few weeks ago and was rewarded with 41st
place, a big improvement, in 30.06. In only her second race, U17W Layla Moore made a fast start but was hampered on the hills
by sore knees, however she battled gamely to the finish line placing 45th in 31.07, a very respectable result, leaving the
team in 11th position on the day.
Mark Baddeley had a storming run in the mens race to come home 13th and young Katrina Thomas was 1st girl and 5th overall in
the fun run for under 11's, holding off a strong challenge on the run in to the
finish.

Several Wellington athletes were in action at the second North Midlands League race of the season, and all performed with
distinction. Although the weather on the day was OK, recent rain had made the
Shipley Country Park course very boggy.
