Lincoln Wellington athletes competed in the fourth and final Lincs league meet in Grantham last Sunday. It was a warm August day and the weather conditions remained consistently sunny throughout the competition.

Sarah Coates (U20) and Kathy Warhurst (vet) both won their age groups in the 400m attaining 66.3 seconds for Sarah and 69.7 for Kathy. In the Men's section S. Hopkinson (U17) finished 1st gaining a time of 57.7.

Ten athletes entered the 100m, six of which were all U13! Shireen Timmis, Mary-Anne Phillips and Hester Talbot produced times of 14.8,15.1 and 16.8 - placing them 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Nathan Cox gained 13.8 putting him in 1st position, Joe Dunderdale and A. Webb both reached times of 15.6 placing them 4th. Becki Jones, Lara Thomas and Natt Jones - all under 15s - ran times of 14.4, 15.7 and 15.8 with positions of 2nd, 8th and 9th. Placing her 1st, Nina Swaby also ran in the 100m crossing the line after 14.3.

Later on, the same 3 U13 girls ran in the 200m. This time Mary-Anne came 1st, Shireen 3rd and Hester 5th. Mary-Anne achieved a new personal best of 30.6, Shireen got 31.0 and Hester ran it in 33.4. Dot Fraser also competed - finishing 2nd in the women's veterans, her time was 36.6. Nathan Cox and A. Webb (both U13) came 1st and 3rd. Their times were 28.3 and 32.0. L. Webb sprinted round the track in 27.9 seconds in the U17 category finishing 3rd.

Ashley Smith (U17) and Susie Ardron (V45) ran together in the 5000m. Ashley Smith achieved a time of 18-40.7 winning his age group and Susie not only ran a personal best of 21-06.7 but set a new club record!

In the U11s section Helen Dunderdale came 2nd attaining a time of 13.5 in the 80m sprint. Dean Harding and Megan Ball both came 2nd in the 600m with times of 2-06.1 and 2-05.2.

One of the last events to run at Grantham was the 800m. Becki Jones (2-34.0), Lara Thomas (2-39.0) and Rebecca Jackson (2-41.4) all entered in the U15s race and picked up 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Twenty minuets later; Cat Foley (U20) and Sarah Kimpton (U17) ran together alongside the men, both winning their categories. Cat crossed the line after 2 minutes 26.6 seconds achieving a new personal best! Sarah gained a time of 2-48.0. Ashley Smith also ran in the 800m finishing 4th in his race, his time was 2-29.5.

The first of our athletes to compete in the 1500 were U13s Georgia Ball and Hester Talbot, picking up 1st and 2nd places with times of 5-17.6 and 5-29.5. Also running in the 1500m was Blue Haywood in the U15s category, Blue came 1st crossing the line after 5-02.4. In the boys under 13 category, Joe Dunderdale finished 1st in his 1500m achieving 5-13.3.

Two senior Athletes, Adey White and Hayley Fox competed in a total of 12 events! First up was the pole vault; Adey jumped 3.30m and Hayley leaped 2 metres. Jumping along side them was Natalie Jones in her first pole vault competition. Natalie was pleased to clear 1.50m. The three athletes finished 1st in their age groups.

Adey and Hayley both entered High jump, Adey clearing 1.50 (2nd) and Hayley leaping 1.20m (1st). Also high jumping was Lydia Chamberlin (U17) and Joe Dunderdale (U13) - Lydia finished 1st with a height of 1.45, Joe came 4th leaping 1.15.

In the Long jump another PB followed from Mary-Anne Phillips (U13), Mary-Anne leapt 3.77m placing her in 2nd position. In the U11 category Hannah Dunderdale came 3rd jumping 3.26m and Dean Harding finished 5th with 2.93m. Nathan Cox in the age group above came 2nd with a distance of 4.57m and A. Webb jumped 4.21m putting him in 3rd position. Adey White jumped 4.87m placing him 3rd.

Keith Ridgeway (Vet) competed with Adey in the Shot putt. They both came away with 1st place, Adey throwing 9.04m and Keith achieving a distance of 9.68m. Also in the veterans 35 section was Sharon Waller, who came 2nd gaining a distance of 7.53m. Hayley also entered throwing 4.18m putting her in 3rd place. Nina Swaby (Senior) threw the shot 6.14m placing her 2nd. Two U15 girls, Becki Jones and Lara Thomas competed picking up 4th and 5th position throwing the shot 7.32 and 5.72.

Keith Ridgeway and Adey White again entered together in the Discus with Hayley, Sharon and Nina. The men threw 33.05m and 28.35m, again both finishing 1st. The ladies got two 2nd places and one 3rd. Hayley threw 19.73, Sharon achieved 17.59m and Nina attained 20.26m.

L. Webb and Mark Plaskett (both U17) came 1st and 3rd in the Javelin, with distances 35.50m and 30.59m. Adey White finished 1st throwing 36.82m.

Earlier in the Hammer, Hayley threw 18.87m putting her in 1st position. Sharon (2nd) gaining a club record with 21.20m and Dot (5th) achieving 11.57m.
