After signing in for their races, the weather cleared up and Kathleen and Cat toed the line for their 800m in warm evening
sunshine with a hint of a cool breeze. The usual jostling for position for position resulted in a slow start with Cat going
through the bell in 75 seconds and Kath 77. Cat wound wound up the pace with each remaining 100 metres and produced a very
strong finish to cross the line with a seasons best time of 2 minutes 28 seconds exactly, placing 2nd from 11. She is rounding
into form nicely late in the season, having also ran a 5000m road race best time of 19 minutes 34 seconds a Ferry Meadows
last week to place 3rd overall on the night and 1st under 20 in the Peterborough road race series.
Kathleen meanwhile was disappointed to run 2 minutes 36.8 after a spirited effort placed in 6th position.
By the time of Annette's race (ten to 10), the wild weather had returned so her time of 5 minutes and 5 seconds for the 1500m
wasn't too bad. Husband Simon recorded 4 minutes 25 seconds for his 1500.
Sarah Kimpton also travelled to Ferry Meadows last week for the 5k road race. In breezy, cool conditions, she ran a nicely
controlled pace and produced a very quick finishing sprint to overtake one of her rivals with a final time of 21minutes 43
seconds.
