The South Kesteven Stadium in Grantham was the venue for the 3rd Lincs League meet of the season. Around 50 athletes from Lincoln Wellington travelled down to compete in both field and track. Early that morning before there had been heavy rain which left the track and field quite wet. The heavy rain stopped but throughout the day the weather was rather changeable, with light rain at the beginning of the competition and winds later on.

Eight members of Lincoln Wellington took part in the Long Jump. In the U11 Girls category Hannah Dunderdale and Shelby Welsh jumped 3.62m and 2.66m placing them 2nd and 5th. Emily Hardy and Chelsea Coyle entered the U13s jump. Emily came 2nd and Chelsea came 6th leaping 3.63m and 3.19m. For the U11 boys, Dean Harding jumped 3.34m coming 3rd. Joe Dunderdale and Chris Wood represented the U13 boys, coming 1st and 3rd reaching distances of 4.08m and 3.69m. Jake Coyle and Elliot Haywood came 6th and 8th with jumps of 4.31m and 4.19m.

Lydia Chamberlin entered the U17 women's high jump reaching a height of 1.45. In the U13 boys section A. Webb jumped a height of 1.20 placing him 3rd.

In the Discus, Geoff Powley attained a distance of 27.05m in the Vet mens gaining 1st place. James Ridgeway competed in the U17 mens discus, achieving a throw of 27.09 giving him the 1st position.

First up on the track were the hurdles. The U13 Girls ran first, with Mary-Ann Phillips gaining 2nd with a time of 14.6. Becki Jones and Kelly Wilson ran in the 75m hurdles picking up 1st and 4th with Becki getting 12.5 and Kelly achieving 13.2. Lincoln Wellington also had 2 women entered in the U17 80m hurdles, Lydia Chamberlin and Rachael Townsend. Lydia reached a new personal best of 12.0 coming 1st and Rachael's time was 15.4 placing her 3rd.

In between the hurdle races, the 1500m took place, where Jon Humberstone ran 5-19.8 crossing the finish line 1st. The U13 Girls came 1st and 2nd with Chelsea Coyle gaining a personal best of 5-16.2 and Hester Talbot running a time of 5-27.7. Kelly Gilbert and Rachel Humberstone ran later in the U17 womens 1500m with times of 5-15 and 5-40 picking up 1st and 2nd. In the U17 mens, James Dray and Josh Stone came 1st and 2nd, running close times of 4-39.1 and 4-39.4. Alongside them was Roy Smith attaining a 4-17.2, coming 1st in the U20 1500m mens race.

Sarah Keracher came 2nd in the U17 womens 300m and, in the veteran mens 400m, A. Marston reached a time of 57.8 placing him 4th. Hannah Dunderdale later ran the U11 Girls 600m gaining 2nd place with a time of 2-11.4.

Eleven Lincoln Wellington athletes entered the 100m sprints. Mary-Ann Phillips and Emily Hardy competed in the U13 Girls, gaining times of 14.8 and 15.1 to place 3rd and 4th. U15s Becki Jones (2nd), Kelly Wilson (5th) and Natalie Jones (7th) gained times of 13.9, 14.9 and 15.1. Josina Clarke achieved a time of 13.6 crossing the finishing line 1st in rhe U17 race. Competing in the senior womens was Rowena Harrison coming 1st timed at 13.2. A. Webb, Neil Humberstone and G. Woolgar picked up 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the U13 boys with times of 14.5, 14.7 and 15.4. G. Wilson finished 3rd in the 100m achieving 12.4. Two athletes competed in the 80m sprints, Shelby Welsh and Dean Harding. Shelby came 4th reaching a time of 14.0 and Dean came 7th with 13.4.

Seven Lincoln Wellington athletes took part in the 3000m from various age groups. Blue Haywood (U15 Girls) and Susie Ardron (Vet Womens) both won their age groups attaining times of 10-29.7 and 11-59.7 - a club record for Susie. In the U15 boys race, Jake Coyle (10-18.1), Elliot Haywood (10-38.4) and Ryan Smith (10-53.4) ran along side them picking up 1st, 2nd and 4th. Ashley Smith ran a time of 9-55.9 coming 1st in the U17 mens. Geoff Powley came 3rd in the Veterans race finishing with a time of 12-27.2.

Later, Georgia Ball, Emily Hardy and Hester Talbot all raced in the U13 200m. The girls were placed 3rd, 4th and 5th gaining times of 32.1, 32.2 and 33.5. In the same age group, A. Webb and Neil Humberstone came 1st and 2nd with times of 30.8 and 32.0. Joe Mayall was entered into the U15 mens; he came 6th reaching a time of 29.1.

The most popular event that day was the 800m with 21 athletes competing in total. Jack Skeet (2-22.8), Nathan Cox (2-27.2) and Joe Dunderdale (2-41.9) all competed in the U13 category crossing the line 1st, 2nd and 3rd. J. Mayall achieved 2-35.0 placing him 3rd. Five U17 men entered, M. Plaskett, T. Duffield, A. Smith, A. Tilley, A. Thomas, achieving times of, 2-05.4, 2-09.6, 2-17.2, 2-18.4 and 2-18.5. In the U20 category, I. Kimpton came 1st his time was 2-01.3, setting a new personal best by more than 3 seconds. Three U15 Girls entered, picking up 1st, 3rd and 7th. Becki Jones got 2-25.7. Lara Thomas stormed round the two laps reaching her new personal best of 2-29.7. Her goal was to race under 2-30 and she smashed her last PB. Kathryn Rutherford ran her first 800m race on the track and reached a personal best time of 2-51.5.

Josina Clarke, Lydia Chamberlin and Sarah Kimpton took part in the U17 women. Josina came 1st timing her at 2-36.2, Lydia received 3rd place with a time of 2-40.8; Lydia's second PB of the day! Lydia was followed by Sarah in fourth position her time was 2-46.4. Lucinda Pitcher and Cat Foley came 1st and 2nd for the U20 women their times were 2-26.4 and 2-38.6. Rowena Harrison and Kathy Warhurst raced in the seniors and veterans respectively, both winning their age groups. Rowena's time was 2-25.2 and Kathy's was 2-41.7.

The last event on the track was the 4x100m relays. Our U13, U15 and U17 women entered picking up two 2nds and a 3rd place with times of 61.0, 61.8 and 52.0. The U13 and U15 boys competed placing them 1st and 2nd crossing the finish line with times of 58.1 and 57.6.
