NoEAA Mens League Div. 2SE
Match 4 - Grantham
3 August 2003

Victory for the Lincoln Wellington men's team in their final Northern League match of the season has resulted in the squad finishing up as champions of their division.

The Wellington men scored consistently and were comfortable match winners. Ronnie McWilliam was an impressive winner of the steeplechase in 9.48.6 with Jason Hall taking the 'B' race in 10.13.3. Maximum points also came in the 1500m with Tom Doe leading throughout to score in 4.00.0 and Andy Shephard running well to win the 'B' race in 4.16.8. Richard Blagrove returned after injury to win the 800m in 1.57.7 and Gary Johnson made a very satisfactory, if belated, start to his season with 2.02.3 for 2nd spot in the 'B' race. Simon Bell kept going well in the heat for 3rd place in the 5000m in 15.56.3 with Nick Marsh 3rd in the 'B' race in 17.11.3. Malc Bramhall was 4th in a good quality 400m hurdles in 60.6 and Steve Swaby was runner up in the 'B' event in 63.9. In the 100m Ricky Lee finished 5th in 11.7 but a bullet start by Michael White gave him 3rd 'B' spot in 11.5. Jim Ayuba and Rob Hindle scored good points in the 200m with times of 23.9 and 24.4 respectively.

In the field events Nigel and Gary Winchcombe dominated the hammer with best throws of 46.13m and 35.46m and the former also won the discus with 36.31m. Adey White cleared 2.90m to win the pole vault and Jason Hall threw a useful 41.44m for 4th place in the javelin. Geoff Powley and Steve Swaby worked hard throughout the afternoon to fill most of the other field events slots and pick up a lot of points in the process.
