A couple of problems during the winter resulted in a late start to the track season for Rachael but this was a very
impressive run and she will now look for some quality races before the end of the season.

Paris
27 July - 1 August 2003
Lincoln Wellington seventeen year old Rachael Nathan has won a bronze medal at the European Youth Olympics in Paris. Competing
for Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the women's 3000 metres, which took place in the magnificent Stade
Charlety, Rachael
ran a very sound tactical race and was never far from the leaders. As is often the case in Championship races the early pace
was not that fast and with three laps to go there were still plenty of athletes in contention. It was the Dutch girl who
made the decisive break and went clear with Nathan and a Ukrainian athlete being the only two able to mount a challenge.
Despite closing rapidly on the leader down the final straight the chasing pair could not quite get on terms and the Lincoln
youngster crossed the line well clear in 3rd place in the eighteen strong field in a time of 9.50.10.
