In the individual events Jenny Pacey worked hard to claim 2nd places in the high jump (1.60m) and long jump (5.72m) - the
latter being a personal best and new club record. She was also 3rd in the shot with 11.49m and 6th in the 100m hurdles in
15.8. There were good efforts from Rowena Harrison to finish 3rd in the 400m in 58.8 and from Rachael Nathan who was 3rd in
the 800m in 2.15.1. And in the longer track events Annette Bell ran strongly for the runner up spot in the 3000m in 10.52.0
and Sarah Coates carved eleven seconds off her previous best when finishing 4th in the 1500m in 4.54.2. Liz Ward was 7th in
the 100m in 13.2 and 8th in the 200m in 26.9 and Nina Swaby placed 5th in the 400m hurdles in 69.4 prior to picking up 5th
place in the triple jump with 9.14m. Hayley Fox was 6th in both the discus with 22.88m and the hammer with 19.63m and Natalie
Hill threw the javelin 28.27m which also gave her 6th position.
Simon Bell was the club's one outright winner of the day when he took the 10000m in 33.54.5. Ronnie McWilliams ran strongly
for 2nd place in the 3000m steeplechase in 9.46.9 and Tom Doe produced two good efforts to finish 3rd in the 1500m in 4.02.0
and 5th in the 800m in 1.58.1. Steve Blagdon also did well in the sprint events and placed 3rd in the 200m in 22.5 and 4th
in the 100m in 11.4. Matt Bowser had a spin over 400m and finished a creditable 5th in 52.5 and Malc Bramhall was also in
5th place in the 400m hurdles in 61.2. Geoff Powley had a busy afternoon and as well as competing in both relays he finished
6th in the 110m hurdles in 20.1, 5th in the high jump with 1.50m and 5th in the javelin with 45.03m. Dan Bishop contested all
of the throws and was 5th in the hammer (24.38m) and shot (9.74m) and also 7th in the discus (29.36m). A useful leap of 6.14m
gave Phil Mackie 3rd spot in the long jump and he was also 6th in the triple jump with 11.88m.

Derby
19 July 2003
Against high class opposition the combined Lincoln Wellington men's and women's teams finished in a very creditable 4th place
from the eight clubs contesting the semi- finals of the British Athletics League Cup at Derby. A significant silver lining
came in the two women's relay events and after a new club record of 50.6 had been set in the 4x100m contest the 4x400m squad
of Liz Ward, Sarah Coates, Rachael Nathan and Rowena Harrison completely dismantled the previous club record in that event
which had stood for sixteen years by crossing the line in 4.04.7.
