Following on from their good form at the opening Lincolnshire League match of the season there was another string of excellent
performances from the Lincoln Wellington squad at the second match at Grantham. Two particularly outstanding efforts came from
Tom Duffield in the U15 boys age group. He flew round the 200m to win impressively in 24.7seconds, only marginally slower than
the winning time in the senior event and then made all the running to win the 800m by a massive margin in the splendid early
season time of 2.09.9. In the same age group Elliott Haywood won the mile in 5.39.1 with Jack Ramsden 3rd in 5.47.6 and Jon
Jones was 3rd in both the 100m and 200m. New member Mark Newman won the U13s long jump with 4.55m and was 2nd in the 200m in
31.0 with Neil Humberstone 3rd in 31.7. A remarkable run from Jake Coyle gave him a win in the mile - beating older opposition
in a fine time of 5.24.7. And Jon Humberstone kept going strongly to win the U13s 800m in 2.46.9 with Nathan Cross 3rd in
2.53.9. The Wellington U17s dominated the middle distance events. Danny Roome won the mile in 4.46.7, Mark Plaskett took a
huge chunk off his personal best when winning the 800m in 2.15.4 with Sam Delaney 2nd in 2.18.3 and Tom Herbert won the 1500m
steeple chase on his debut in the event in 5.15.5. The U20s were also pretty successful with Will Strangeway taking the mile
