The talented Danny Roome again underlined his potential and produced a remarkable performance to finish 10th in a field of
almost 300 finishers. He is improving with every race and is forcing his way into the best in his age group. Another
eye-catching run in the same age group came from Tom Herbert who produced easily his best cross country performance to finish
56th. In the junior women's contest Lucinda Pitcher continued her recent fine form and again ran very strongly to finish
19th. She will be hoping to finish the season with a good run in the senior girls race at the Schools Championships at
Brighton. A third terrific Wellington performance came from Sarah Coates in the under 17 girls race. Stamina is her strong
suit and she ploughed through the mud to finish a brilliant 21st - easily her best ever performance. Tash Johnson did very
well to cross the line 51st after taking a heavy fall in the closing stages. And Alice Thomas in 95th place and Emily Taylor
103rd gave the Wellington girls a highly creditable 6th team place.

Parliament Hill Fields, London
22 February 2003
The notorious slopes of London's Parliament Hill Fields could not prevent some outstanding Lincoln Wellington performances at
the National Cross Country Championships. After a heavy post Christmas racing programme and with the English Schools
Championships still to come quite a few of the Wellington squad decided to give this one a miss. But there were some superb
performances from those that did make the trip.
