In the under 15 boy's race Danny Roome did well to get through to 14th place at the finish after a hampered start saw him in
the mid-thirties in the early stages. Josh Stone came next in 34th place with Mark Plaskett doing well for 78th position and
Dexter Haywood crossing the line 109th. Natasha Johnson has endured a difficult eighteen months but she showed a real sign
of returning to her best with a strong run for 30th place in the under 17 women's race. Emily Taylor found it fairly tough
going in 53rd and the in-form Sarah Coates unfortunately took a heavy fall and was unable to finish. Liz Harley was first
back for the under 15 girls in 52nd place ahead of Rachel Humberstone 68th, Kelly Gilbert 86th and Josina Clarke 119th. And
in the under 13 boys contest Jack Ramsden fared best with 61st spot ahead of Elliott Haywood 76th, Jake Coyle 90th, Dan
Cocking 113th and Beren Cross 120th.
In the senior women's race Claire Gregory suffered a back spasm in the early stages and was unable to stride out properly. She
managed to get going better on the second circuit and worked through to a respectable 93rd position at the line. Veterans
Betty Stracey and Jane Ramsden were 215th and 221st respectively with Tracy
Carnall keeping on well to finish 239th. In a
high class under 17 men's race Will Strangeway ran a nicely paced race to come back comfortably in the first half of the
field in 66th position.
Many of the club's athletes will be representing Lincolnshire Schools in the Anglian Schools Cross Country Championships
which take place on Lincoln's South Common on Saturday 1st February commencing at 12 noon.

Heaton Park, Manchester
25 January 2003
A testing course in Manchester's undulating Heaton Park together with some very high-class opposition produced a severe
challenge for the Lincoln Wellington athletes who competed at the North of England Cross Country Championships. In the
circumstances there were still some noteworthy performances with the promising Lucinda Pitcher producing the outstanding
individual performance to finish in 9th place in a classy junior women's field. After a sensible start she picked her way
through the field and finished in good style to be close behind some fairly big names. With another two years in the junior
age group she is looking like a pretty useful prospect. The under 13 girl's squad has had a very successful season and
although they were out of the medals on this occasion they all ran with credit and with one exception will remain in the
same age group next year. Blue Haywood again led the squad home with a strong run for 12th place. Charlotte Hanson was not
far behind in 29th with Rebecca Jackson 57th. Lara Thomas followed this trio in 72nd spot with Charlotte Gray 116th and Helen
Penistan 138th.
