Louth
12 January 2003
The Lincolnshire League cross country season drew to a close with the final match taking place at Louth AC's London Road
venue. With a heavy forthcoming few weeks some of the younger Wellington athletes gave this one a miss but those that did
turn out produced some excellent results. Chelsea Coyle is the latest in a developing line of outstanding young prospects
in the Wellington ranks and she was most impressive in the under 11's race when beating not only the other girls but also
the boys in emphatic style. Mary -Ann Philips was 3rd with Hester Talbot 5th. Jon Humberstone was the only Wellington athlete
in the under 11 boy's race and he also notched a good win in a fairly tight finish. Blue Haywood continues to impress and
she won the under 13 girl's event by almost half a minute. Charlotte Hanson was comfortably clear in 2nd place with Lara
Thomas 4th and Rebecca Jackson 5th. Charlotte Gray in 11th place, Helen Penistan 15th and Alex Caskie 16th completed a very
strong Wellington squad. The easiest winner of the day was 17 year old Lucinda Pitcher in the junior/senior/veteran women's
race. She had the race under control from a long way out and was a massive one minute 20 seconds clear at the line. She should
be a big asset to the club in the coming track season. Margaret Thompson finished a good 3rd with Kathy Warhurst a little
further back in 4th. Mia Haywood was 17th, Jane Ramsden 22nd and Pat Kimpton 24th.
