Jacqui Brown ran strongly against a pair of high class athletes in the senior 800m and was not beaten far into 3rd place in
a good time of 2.19.27. In the under 15 girl's 1500m Rachel Humberstone took another big slice off her previous best when
finishing 7th in 5.22.76 and new member Lucinda Pitcher ran with promise in the senior 1500m to finish 4th in 5.01.92.
Josina Clarke kept going strongly to finish 8th in the under 15 girls 800m in 2.38.04 and in the under 17's event Alice
Thomas was 7th in 2.36.52. A determined run from Sarah Coates in the under 17's 3000m took her across the line in 5th
position in 11.32.9. Lydia Chamberlin did pretty well on her county debut to reach two finals and finished 7th in the
under 15's 75m hurdles in 12.76 and 8th in the 200m in 27.9.
In the men's match there was an impressive gun to tape win for Tommy Doe in the senior 1500m. He was closely pursued all
the way but proved far too strong in the closing stages and was well clear at the line in 3.59.8. - a pretty decent time
in the windy conditions. There was a big personal best for Danny Roome in the under 15 boys 1500m with a time of 4.23.31
for 4th place and another personal best went to Matt Hughes who ran strongly throughout in the under 17's 800m to finish
4th in 2.03.88. Malc Bramhall picked up a good 2nd place in the senior 400m hurdles in 62.09. And after a couple of easy
weeks training the much raced Steve Blagdon looked pretty sharp in the senior 400m when grabbing 4th spot in 50.61. He
completed the afternoon by anchoring the senior 4x100m squad to a quite impressive victory.

Cudworth
14-15 September 2002
A group of Lincoln Wellington athletes brought their seasons to a close by representing Lincolnshire at the Northern Inter
Counties match at Dorothy Hyman Stadium in Cudworth, near Barnsley. The highlight in the women's match was a superb front running win from
Rachael Nathan in the under 17's 1500 metres. She crossed the line well over 100 metres clear of the second placed athlete
and her winning time of 4.31.47 erased the existing championship best performance which was set a remarkable twenty four
years previously. Jenny Pacey had a busy afternoon winning the long jump with 5.38m and finishing 2nd in the high jump with
1.60m and 5th in the shot with 10.79m. Hayley Brylewski also had a hectic time and picked up 4th place in the under 17's
300m in 44.19 as well as finishing 6th in the 80m hurdles in 12.88 and 7th in the 100m in 13.69. There was a splendid
clearance of 2.40m in the pole vault to give Hayley Fox 3rd place and Liz Ward looked close to her best in
the 400m with 59.04 for 3rd spot.
