Another excellent run came from Annette Bell who contested the 'B' 3000m. She ran very strongly throughout the race and her
finishing time of 10.23.87 was a massive 14 seconds quicker than her previous best for the season.
There was also a highly encouraging effort from Tom Doe in the British Milers Club 1500m race. In a very high class race he
was towards the rear for the first two laps before picking up the pace well in the closing stages. A very strong run down
the home straight took him across the line in 8th place in a personal best time of 3.55.45. After a season which has been
severely handicapped by injury he now seems to be fulfilling his promise.
Katie Tilley and Kathy Warhurst had a run in a graded 800 metres race and both went well. The former finished in 2.30.82
and the latter was one places behind her in a time of 2.35.64 - both of these times being personal bests for the current
season.

Stretford
20 August 2002
Lincoln Wellington 16 year old Rachael Nathan has gone to the top of the U.K. Athletics all time 3000m rankings for the
under 17 women's age group. At an open meeting at Stretford, Manchester she competed in a high class field of male and
female athletes and settled towards the rear in the early stages. She then began to move through the field in impressive
style and a flying last lap of 70 seconds took her across the line in 9minutes 24.38 seconds - a personal best by seven
seconds and just two hundredths of a second inside the British record. Having achieved her target time for the season at
her main distance she will now finish her track campaign with a couple of 1500m races before commencing her preparation
for the coming cross-country season. Training partner Dean Houlton competed in the same race and after leading his club-mate
round until halfway he could not quite go with her in the closing stages. He nevertheless clipped another two seconds off
his personal best for the distance when finishing in 9.31.47 and this was a remarkable 19th personal best for him during
the season.
