The younger age groups raced over 3000m and Ian Kimpton completed a series four timer in the under 17 men's race when
winning in 10.03. Tom Herbert took the under 15 boys race in 10.46 and also won the series but in the under 13 boys contest
a win in the final race by Scunthorpe's Adam Cave in 11.17 meant that he shared the series with Wellington's Elliott
Haywood who had the same number of points and an identical fastest time. Sarah Kimpton's win in the final race won her
the under 15 girl's series trophy with Rachel Humberstone taking the runner up spot. And in the under 13 girls race
another astonishing effort from Blue Haywood gave her a convincing win in her fastest time of 11.39. Lara Thomas ran
very strongly to take 2nd place in 12.18 but she could not trouble the diminutive Haywood who is beginning to look
pretty special.

Race 4 Report
14 August 2002
There was a successful conclusion to the Lincoln Wellington road race series at Yarborough Leisure Centre with Simon Bell
recording the fastest time of the year to win the senior men's race in 16 minutes 9 seconds for the 5000m circuit. Dean
Houlton won a good tussle for the minor placings but Nick Marsh's 3rd spot was good enough to win him the series trophy as
previous leader Gary Johnson was unable to compete. The veteran men's event was won in good style by Bernie Bontoft to
clinch his series win and although Annette Bell won the final veteran women's race in 18.42 the series winner was Ann
Gilroy who finished 2nd on the night in 22.47. Mia Haywood won the under 20 women's race and was also the series winner
with a fastest time of 22.21.
