4 August 2002

There was an agonising finale to the Lincoln Wellington womens team's Northern League campaign as they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Second Division.

They finished the final match at Scunthorpe in fourth place with 334 points when just 3 more points would have placed them second and provided a promotion slot.

The senior women scored very heavily with Jenny Pacey in the thick of the action throughout the match.  She won the shot in 10.73m and 100m hurdles in 16 seconds, was second in the high jump with 1.62m, 200m in 26.9 seconds and long jump with 5.38m, and finished third in the javelin with 24.79m.

Nina Forney recorded a personal best and club record of 70.3 seconds winning the 400m hurdles.  She also scored in the high jump with 1.20m and took third in the 100m.

Rachael Nathan moved up from the under 17 age group to run with the seniors and posted an impressive double.  She ran the 800m to win easily in 2.15.2 and repeated the tactics for a comfortable win in the 400m in 61.5.

Carly Gilbert was the only under 17 competing for Wellington and she was second in the shot with 7.35m and fourth in the long jump with 4.03m.
