Lincoln Wellington’s Rachael Nathan made it a hat-trick of impressive wins in the last three weeks when she came home
unchallenged in the home countries Schools International race at Scotstoun Stadium, Glasgow on Saturday. Competing once again
over 3000 metres her winning time of 9 minutes 31.9 seconds was comfortably a season’s best and was just two tenths of a
second away from her personal best. In view of the inclement weather conditions she changed her normal front running tactics
and sat in behind the number one Scottish athlete for almost five laps. A 74 second lap from the Lincoln youngster then
proved too hot for her rivals to handle and maintaining a very strong pace for the remainder of the race she crossed the
line about eighty metres clear of her nearest pursuer.
