For the men’s squad Steve Blagdon continued his recent good form with an impressive win in the U20 400m in 51.0 and he was
only beaten by a fraction in the 100m in a personal best 11.0 with Michael White 3rd in 11.5. Roy Smith was the only other
U20 competing and a personal best 4.24.0 gave him 2nd place in the 1500m. The top senior men’s effort came from Andy Wood
with a fine time of 9.44.8 in the 3000m steeplechase. Adey White won the pole
vault with 3.20m and was 3rd in the javelin
with 39.57m and there were 2nd placings for Steve Swaby in the 400m hurdles in 64.4 and the high jump with 1.65m. John
Siddons was 3rd in the 1500m in 4.17.8. In the veteran mens 400m Adie Marston and Malc Bramhall had a great tussle before
the former crossed the line first in 54.0 with the latter 2nd in 54.6. Marston also took the 1500m title in 4.35.1. There
were some excellent U15 age group performances with David Thomas scorching home in the 100m in a splendid time of 11.7. New
member Danny Roome also impressed in the 1500m with a winning time of 4.33.0 - just holding off Josh Stone who was 2nd in
4.34.2 after the pair had swapped places throughout the race. Daniel Cocking won the U13 high jump title with a clearance
of 1.25m with Jon Jones taking the runner-up position with a similar height.

Grantham
11 May 2002 (Day 1)
A stunning front running 1500m win by Rachael Nathan in a personal best 4.26.9 was the outstanding Lincoln Wellington
performance on a very good day for the club on the first day of the Lincolnshire
Track & Field championships at Grantham.
At the end of the meeting she was awarded the City & Colleges trophy for the best performance of the championships and
she should now be ready to tackle some top class opposition in the forthcoming weeks. Multi-eventer Jenny Pacey was in fine
form and won the U20 shot with 10.49m and the triple jump with 10.92m. Wellington athletes monopolised the podium after the
senior women’s 400m. Rowena Harrison led from the gun to win in 61.0 and was closely followed by Jacqui Brown who was 2nd in
61.9 with Liz Ward 3rd in 62.5. Hayley Fox won the senior pole vault with a useful clearance of 2.50m and was 2nd in the
discus with 23.73m. Sarah Garrett took 3rd spot in the latter event with 18.07m. Nina Forney won the 400m hurdles in 71.5
before finishing 3rd in the 100m in 13.5. And there were further senior victories for Sharon Waller in the triple jump
(9.35m) and Claire Gregory in the 1500m in 5.11.2. The veteran squad also did very well with Denise
Timmis taking the 100m
in 13.8, Dorothy Fraser winning the 400m in 78.0 and Kathy Warhurst scoring in the 1500m in 5.17.9 with Betty Stracey 2nd
in 6.55.4. Sarah Coates had the unenviable task of chasing Rachael Nathan in the U17 1500m and she kept going strongly
to finish 2nd in a personal best 5.16.3. A thrilling sprint finish by Rachel Humberstone gave her a good win in the
U15
1500m in a personal best 5.31.6 with team-mate Sarah Kimpton taking 2nd place in 5.33.5 - also a best time. The top U13
performance came from Charlotte Hanson who was 2nd in the 1500m in 5.42.8.
