Lincoln Wellington athletes continued their impressive start to the new season at the second Lincolnshire League match at Lincoln's Yarborough track. At the end of the afternoon a remarkable 38 winning performances had been recorded with some particularly good efforts on the track despite the windy conditions. The senior women's squad was in top form and Sharon Waller led the way with a hat-trick of victories. She won the long jump with 4.32m, the shot with 7.63m and took the triple jump with 9.31m. Liz Ward won the 100m in 13.6 and later completed a double in the 400m in 63.1 and Nina Forney was also in double form when winning the 200m in 28.2 and the 400m hurdles in 74.00. Jacqui Brown impressed with an all the way win in the 800m in 2.24.7 and there were further wins in the senior age group for Hayley Fox with 2.40m in the pole vault and for Sarah Garrett with 19.4 in the 100m hurdles. There was a winning double in the veterans category for Denise Timmis with 4.46m in the long jump and 14.0 in the 100m and Dot Fraser won the 400m in 81.8. Sarah Coates won the U-17's mile by a big margin in 5.45.6 and in the same age group Natalie Hill and Nicky Dale picked up the first two places in the javelin with 28.18m and 27.16m respectively. The U-15 1500m produced a great finish with Rachel Humberstone getting in front near the line to win in 5.39.4 with Sarah Kimpton a very close 2nd in 5.39.9. New member Lydia Chamberlin produced a couple of good performances to win the 200m in 28.4 and the 75m hurdles in 13.0. There were some promising middle distance efforts from the U-13's with Charlotte Hanson (5.50.2) holding off Rebecca Jackson (5.51.6) in the 1500m and 10 year old Blue Haywood finishing a good 2nd in the 800m in 2.47.9.

There was a fine start to the season for Gary Johnson who won the senior men's mile in 4.35.2 and completed a double in the 800m in 2.03.2. Steve Blagdon was also in outstanding form and won the 100m in 11.2, the 200m in 23.1 and the 400m in 51.9. Field event wins for the seniors went to Phil Mackie with 5.61m in the long jump and Steve Swaby with 11.47m in the triple jump. Adey Marston was the only Wellington veteran competing but he picked up the mile in 4.57.4. Richard Duffin won the U-20 high jump with 1.55m and also took the javelin with 39.77m. And Michael White was successful in the 100m in 11.6. In the U-17 category Luke Lovell won the triple jump with 11.11m and the long jump with 5.17m. Matt Hughes made all the running to win the 800m in a personal best 2.06.5 and Darren Coldron scored in the 200m in 24.8. There were impressive wins in the U-15 middle distance events for Josh Stone in the mile with 5.00.2 and new member Danny Roome with 2.19.1 in the 800m. And for the U-13 squad Matthew Richardson picked up his customary win in the 100m in 14.5 and Dan Cocking won the high jump with 1.20m.
